power inverters

What's the biggest/best (as in highest power capacity/quality etc) power inverter you can buy that plugs into a vehicles cigarette lighter (as opposed to directly connecting to the battery)?

Anybody?

try www.jcwhitney.com they have a wide array of them in vaying power levels. Most of the higher outputs can be hooked up to the cigarette lighter or the power.

Just a word of caution I've noticed on my truck that the two other power sources blow fuses when I try to run things such as my 12 volt air compressor off of them, but there's no problem w/ the cigarette one. It's just strange.

400w Continuous, 800w peak is about the largest you can get that will go through your cig. lighter, but generally it will blow your fuse at high loads. What are you looking to do? If you need to run a drill or something of that sort, you will need to run it right off of the battery and not go through the lighter

I assume you mean like a dorm room fridge,

a 140 watt should be sufficient, but I would worry about overheating.. basically get the highest wattage you can afford, and you won't have to worry about over heating, blowing fuses, and it will be handier for you in the long run

go to radio shack, wal mart, etc and take a look at what they carry.. the packaging tells you what you can power with what wattage
