We don't have nearly as many HD guys here as we'd like to have. Of course the 1/2 ton trucks outnumber the HD's on the road by a staggering margin!

True the Dmax people like to hang out at another forum, but they stop back here from time to time to help out!

The good thing is that alot of the things that apply to 1/2 trucks also apply to the HD's, so a quick search of the LD forums could help answer a question or two. If not post it in here and I'll try to help out, or one of our other great members will chime in!

Not having a diesel does it make much since to go there? I'm interested in buying a 6.0L NBS.....

It makes more sense than being on this forum. The only difference between mine and a dmax is engine, tranny and rearend. Everything else on the truck is the same. The only thing on this site that im ever here for is like engine and stuff. And there are alot of guys there who have an 8.1 or 6.0 and no diesel. They stay for all the HD platform knowledge. Plus its an older crowd there, most of the people there know their s***.

This section really doesn't apply to me at all. (actually most of the talk doesn't even apply to my year of truck, just a margin of it) I read it because it interests me and once and a while I might have something to contribute.

I'm a newb to the website, and to Chevy, my F150 got stolen, and I got a good deal on this 2500HD, so I got it, & glad I did. I dont know much about Chevys though, so I got some learning to do :tear:

I have an 02 HD. I absolutely love it. I honestly would never get anything less. I have the 6.0L though, no diesel, so it doesnt make much sense to be hanging out in diesel forums.

It is true that HD's are the minority on the road so that surely has some reflection here. However I think its also the fact that most HD owners are most likely using it for work/commercial purposes and dont necessarily come here to find information about them as a lot are owned by companies, not individuals. I know that If i didnt care about my truck personally, i certainly wouldnt spend the time to research it and ask questions when problems arise.

What would be helpful though is some definitive information as to what the differences are between the LDs and HDs. Certain problems that people have been reporting (like warped discs) seem to be limited to LD's whereas the brakes on my HD are excellent. No warping whatsoever and I still have the originals after 5 years/70k miles. These discs are HUGE though, I couldnt imagine the LDs have the same setup.

That brings up another point. For years, I have always wondered why there are different size exhausts on trucks with similar setups. The tailpipe on my truck is absolutely huge. Its 3.25 inches in diameter. NO other truck I have seen has the same size. I really cant figure it out. A friend of mine tried to buy an exhaust tip for me and swears that 3" is the largest size they have listed for my truck. Why is it no one can answer these things for sure?

I have a '06 2500HD with the BIG BLOCK and ally tranny. Love it! I go to the diesel site from time to time to read about diesels just to learn more, but am a member here!

I also have a 1987 V20 chevy with the original 350TBI and Turbo 400 tranny. Still runs strong! Just recently did the rear brakes and rear axle seals. They were shot!

Need to take some pictures of both and get on a site that hosts them, and get them on here! Be nice when the weather FINALLY warms up, snow is gone, rain is gone, and can finally clean them both! Soon I hope!

Later all.

The diesel sites really don't work for me unless it's a specific diesel issue. There is more diverse stuff here and in the 1500 forum. I frankly don't see areally good reason to split the two in the first place. There's value in both. Unless you say, we'd never know you had an HD. (Steve, you're too old to say "rocks." :-)

I have just purchased my first 2006 GMC 2500HD CC Duramax, 6 spdAlly, well really my first GM Truck. I had a 99 F250 SD with a 5.4. It served me well until at 110,000 miles I blew a spark plug out of the head. Found out through a ford forum that the heads from 99 - 03 had a design flaw in the 5.4 motors and it wouldn't cost me $3000 to fix the problem like the dealer said. I needed a new truck.

I began searching for GMC sites on the web and found this one. I saw a post of ironhead's truck on the basic diesel forum and knew that was the truck for me and this was the site. I have had my truck for 4 days now and am still grinning.

This is a great site and the post's helped me purchase my dream truck. Thanks to everyone who post's and I hope to add more questions and info to the site.
