Trailer Wiring Harness

I dont think I have a 12V wire from the fuse block to the trailer plug on my 2002 2500HD, I would think this would be standard on an HD. Does anyone know how I could tell if its just tied up under the frame somewhere or if it wasnt installed at all?

Thanks.

Steve...........All GM full sizers without the trailer tow pkg. have the

wires bundled and blut cutted wrapped and are stowed somewhere

under the bed near the rear bumper attached to the wiring harness

back there..................

But to power up the wire to charge the trailers battery you must

put a Maxi fuse in stud#1....................

Hi WV. Does your Truck have a factory hitch, and a factory 7-way(7-way=round plug w/ 6 flat terminals around the outside and one in the middle)? You can tell if its factory if the 7-way bracket is part of the hitch, after market ones usually clamp or screw on. Does it have a thick red wire going into the back of it? its a red wire on my truck and I have an '01 2500hd. if its got all that and still no power. then its probable that fuse that sonjaab was talking about.

Oh yeah, it could also be the trailer. if you have a lite tester test to make sure youve got power at the seven way. its been a while so i forget which terminal has power. I know its one of the outside ones. Im thinking top right, but not sure on this. The vehicles wiring is usually always standard. But trailers on the other hand. Well ive seen some pretty funky configurations. What they might have done is wire the batt charge wire to the center post. That one usually isnt used for anything. Its an auxilliary, some ppl use it for a secondary power source, some ppl use it for reverse lights, you could use it for anything. They might have wired your trailer to use the center post.
