slemmer Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 Recently on my '05 CCSB, I noticed an irritating squeek as I go over speed bumps and other irregular surfaces under slow speeds. It was really noticable when I climbed onto the back of the bed and jumped up and down. Lots of noise from the leaf springs I believe. I'm thinking busing issues or is there something else to watch for? Rarely carry anything of signifcant weight. Has anyone else experienced this annoying nusiance? Never had it on my '95 ECSB in the 10 years of ownership. I hope it's something that warranty can cover.

01z71 Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 On my '04 I had the same problem with the leaf springs being squeaky. I mainly noticed it when going over bumps. They replaced both rear leaf springs under warranty and it has not made any noise in about 23k since that was done. I would take it in to the dealer.
Drunken Sailor Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 Don't bother, the dealer just came to you! My CCSB has this issue too, and there's a TSB out for this problem. It is the leaf springs squeaking. I can get the TSB later; the "fix" involves pressure washing out the springs and greasing them.
Drunken Sailor Posted May 25, 2007 Posted May 25, 2007 I can't copy and paste the TSB... stupid GM. In short, they tell us to raise the vehicle so the springs are hanging, pressure wash in between the springs and the apply grease in between the ends of the springs. They claim that this repair will last longer than just replacing the springs, but won't last forever (as with the intermediate shaft lube). They also state at the end of the TSB that trucks build prior to October of '04 have a splay clip (the band holding the end of the leafs together) that's too small and interferes with the springs. In '05 the clip is changed to a larger one. If this is your problem, they state that the only repair is too replace your leaf packs with '05+ springs.
