Anyone Else Have This Happen?

The paint on the lower part of my front bumper is wearing off! What gives. It's a (sport metallic red)) 05 Sierra ECSB with the SLE2 package so it has the painted lower "valance" that houses the driving lites and whatnot. Well it just so happens that I drove down a few section line roads up in North Dakota where the buffalo roam and the prairie grass grows high. High enough apparently to totally wear the paint off this part of the bumper right down to the black plastic in some spots. Anybody else encounter this or am I just driving on too many grassy roads? I'm considering a brush guard of some kind, any suggestions?

Whenever I take my truck off-roadin', I've come to expect it to get dinged, dented, scratched or otherwise marked up in some way.

That's all part of knowing ya had a good time off-road.

If ya ain't leaving a mark somewhere, ya ain't really off-roading!! drive1.gif

And, think of this, grass SEEMS harmless enough, yet lawnmower blades always need sharpened.

It's actually quite abrasive, and out where the buffalo roam, I would think that's some tougher stuff than in the typical home yard.

I had a good time off roading that's for sure, cause I'm still wondering where I left my underwear that night!!! :) But I've been looking at all the new GM trucks and other brands since, and noticed that they sport a dull gray plastic surface in this area as opposed to painted. My old 98 Tacoma had this dull plastic down there as well. Just something to consider if you know that you'll be driving in high grass or stubble fields.

Cheers

If you're going to keep off-roading in it, and are concerned about that piece...Take it off and take it down to the local joint that does Line-X, Rhino liners, etc...And have them match the color and shoot it. It will be about 100 times more durable.
