well i did it and it looks great! i recommend this cheap and easy(but timely) mod to everyone. i will post up pictures and a brief how-to later on today!

Looks great! I am trying to do that on my NBS truck. The trouble is that I had to purchase new covers from GM and then paint them. Overall the cost of buying them and then getting them painted is over $200! I got to looking on gmpartsdirect.com and found from what I believe is already painted to match covers for only $70. I think that the mirrors are the same for the Avalanches and Silverados, but I am not sure. The part number is 17800740. I could really use the how to post on the mirrors when you get a chance. I don't have a clue how to pull them off and put them back on.
