Chrome Or Smoked Hood Protector?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have pictures of the chrome and/or smoked hood protector on the front of their Denali? I like the chrome, but can't quite decide.

Thanks in advance.

Let me make sure your talking about like a bug guard or something of the like. It all depends on the color of the car in my opinion. Colors like light blue, white, red, most of the lighter colors I personally like the smoke or semi see through. Dark colors, like dark blue, graphite, black, etc will look amazing with a chrome, but not as great with a smoke one. If you have a dark, I would go chrome, light color, go smoke in my opinion

Yes, I am referring to the bug guard/deflector.

The color of the Denali is the Stealth Grayt Metallic. I have the same color Silverado and have the smoke, but I think that smoke on the Denali takes away from the chrome lip on the hood portion of the vehicle.

I love the smoked look on my truck, but think that the way it looks on this rig is great.

It sure is easy to go too far with chrome. Have you considered the clear 3M rock guard product?

I like the look of the chrome version in that linked image from TahoeForum. I've just got an '03 Sierra that I'm trying to decide the same question on right now:

My truck is Pewter, but with the GMC's and that chrome grille surround and bumper I think chrome (at least in my particular case) would be a nice addition.

I definitely agree that you can go too far with the chrome. That would be the only thing that I would add aside from color matched splash guards front and rear.

My only reason that I am resisting the smoke is that it covers up the chrome upper lip on the upper portion of the grill/hood.

How much does the 3M rock guard cost?

Buy the gm bug guard it doesn't cover the chrome hood bar. It goes on with 3M tape and one clip on each end.

I hope these pics of my truck help you... Stealth Gray Metallic w/ chrome hood protector, and color matched splash guards. I'm sure somebody here won't care for it, but I sure do like the way it looks. I think a smoked hood protector might look weird with the Stealth Gray.

I had the same color Sierra previous my Silverado. I had a smoked deflector and it looked great....
