2008 Silverado

 

Is this code standard on all 2008? Whether one orders remote start or does not order remote start?

 

Let's say one finds a 2008 on lot that does not have remote start or one orders a vehicle without remote start. Is the AP8 code in every 2008 truck?

 

It's not clear to me if a 2008 does not have remote start as an option why AP8 would be listed in the glove box for future purchase of remote start.

 

2008 without remote start. Is there an option package that puts the AP8 code number in the glove box even if vehilce does not have remote start?

my 07 has RPO AP8 but I do not have the remote start (but it is on order now)

I believe that all trucks come with it as part of the Remote Vehicle starter prep package.

So if I read your response correctly, AP8 is not in every 2008 truck.

 

That a "Remote Starter Prep Package" has to be ordered or on window sticker of a new truck.

If GM follows their previous method it means that early '08s might be using '07 remote entry systems and won't have AP8, but once they've run out of '07 remote entry stock all trucks will be equiped with '08 remote entry which has remote start prep.

Thanks. I will start looking at glovebox doors at dealerships and see. On the 2008's.

 

So the guess is that at some point, all 2008 will have the AP8.
