Tsb On Ebony Seat

So I don't know if my truck is part of this or not.. my interior is officially called dark titanium I guess? My seats have black on the outer edge, and grayish silver in the middle... I called my chevy dealer, they gave me the silent treatment for 5 seconds, the nsaid huh... I was put on hold for over 20 minutes, so I hung up. Called the GMC dealership as they say they do work on both.. That advisor quickly said I had to take it to chevy.. I guess not realizing it affects both models. At this point, I'm just trying to find out if my truck is eligible..

Just got a call from the service manager. Said he is going to order the parts today and when he gets them in we will setup the install. He was not aware of the TSB until I provided the # to him in my email. I will be sure to provide pitcures when I have the install completed. I am crossing my fingers that this will finally be the fix we have been waiting for.

I do feel bad for those of you who spent alot of money out of pocket to replace the seat covers while GM dragged their feet on this. I almost got aftermarket covers myself.

I kind of feel like when the coyote finally caught the roadrunner...and doesn't know what to do... :(

So I guess thats it? Crazy...what are we gonna complain about now?

Just called my local dealer, not the dealer I bought it from and asked if he could order the covers for me. He asked me how many miles were on the truck. I said 20,000. He looked up my truck and said as soon as they come in he will call.

Does anybody know how long of a wait we have?

Also when somebody gets it done please post the pictures.

I have a sneaking suspicion that it will be a while before all our our lint traps are out of our trucks. :M16:

I'm not even sure my dealer would know what a TSB is. :(

I'm really going to look into the quality of these replacement covers. What has me worried the most is the experience of the average GM tech with installing upholstery. I want mine to look factory not a mom and pop job. You guys that have it done, post whether it was done in house or contracted out.

I wonder if we can convince GM to revert back to the 99-06 type of Fabric.. I loved the fabric in my 99!

I've been saying that all along,I even told our GM service rep. that way back when this issue first came out and he told me...."GM doesn't have a fix" I told him....."Use the material/fabric from the '99-'07 trucks"

i have a question about this statment before i call my dealer:

Important: Parts for RPO AE7 (Front Split Seat) are NOT available at this time, this bulletin will be revised when parts become available.

Does this mean if i have the bench seal with the center folding arm rest I am beat for now? is this fix only for those with buckets?

My dealer is going to have a local trim shop install the updated covers in my truck.

That's the way it should be handled IMO. Leave it to people that do it day in and day out. I had my boat redone two years ago and the local shop did a awesome job! Well worth the $..
