My dealership guys are tools. I understand that the service guys are not going to admit that there is a problem unless they have too. But I have been talking to the service department every couple months since I bought the truck in May of last year about the seats. Well I just called them with this information, and the service writer told me that this is the first time he has heard anything about it. To give him the benefit of doubt, I did not give him my name or let on that he actually has spoken to me several times. But seriously why do they need to treat us like were stupid? I called another guy who used to do all my service work on my S-10. I stopped having it serviced at that dealership when the warranty expired back in 2003. I just called him and told him my name and that was all it took, he asked me how my truck was doing and that if I ever put the new motor in. It’s been 5 years since I’ve gone to him for anything and he remembers not only me but my old truck. Well I asked him about the seat problem and he told that it is a problem and that he knew about it and wanted to fix it for me. Unfortunately he doesn’t work for the dealership that we got it from and we don’t get the bonus perks like free loaners or that, it also takes about an hour to get there with traffic.

Iam not sure how to get this takencare of. I just called the GMC Customer service number with my third complant about this. I was given a new case number and was told that GM did not have a "fix" at this time and to keep in touch with the dealer about the problem. Called my dealer they to seem to know nothing about this new bulletin. Anyone have the TSB number for it so I can give it to them?

Thanks,

Mike

TSB is listed a few post up. Went to my dealer this morning. They ordered everything and will call when it comes in. GM taking care of it 100%. Yeah!

Gotta keep in mind that a "memo" is not sent out to the dealers regarding TSBs its just added to a database for people to look up. Most of the time the dealers will not know of a TSB until a mechanic or service advisor goes to try to look one up when they encounter issues. Its been like that at Ford, Toyota, and of course, GM dealers I have delt with. I will tell them to please check for a TSB on this, and they will call back a little later and say sure enough there is one. Lets also keep in mind that a TSB is NOT a recall, if you are over your warranty, YOU will be paying for it not the dealer.

Important: All seats will need to be updated in the vehicle. Let customers with RPO 19D know that the appearance of the insert material will be noticeably different.

If the customer has ebony colored cloth seats, replace the seat covers (back and cushion), the headrests and the armrests with revised fabric. Refer to SI for the appropriate seat back and cushion cover, headrest and armrest replacement procedures.

I wonder what the new material will look like....my seats look horrible right now. I am glad they are doing this.

Important: Parts for RPO AE7 (Front Split Seat) are NOT available at this time, this bulletin will be revised when parts become available.

Great... How long will it take for them to get the Center seat for the fronts figured out? Another eleventy billion years?

The fix will be out in a couple of days. Replacement of all the black cloth. Not just a cover.

Fo' Realz?

Not to discount your statement but, from where did this information come?

Rich, what info do you have on this???

:D

It is from my dealer, the e-mail should be available to all dealers today. Better late than never, GM! :P

is anyone scared of having them all changed out? i dont want to get a truck back with seat covers that are not put on properly or have wrinkles in them.

My dealer hires out the work to an interior shop so I am not worried. I can certainly understand being concerned though if it were just your everyday techs performing the work. Not to knock them at all but they are probably not much more experienced with interior swaps than I am.

My dealer has been pretty good so far, they are a one off, family owned, and operated outfit. Everitt.

I am gonna hope for the best.

Finally, but I'm gonna wait to see what the replacements look like before I take my truck in. I have an all terrain with the premium ebony cloths seats and I like the way they look currently and I don't like just anybody fondling my truck.
