Tsb On Ebony Seat

Recommended Posts

Well, it's been two weeks, so I thought I'd bring this thing back to life...

I was at my local Chevy dealer today to get my fog light fixed, and while I was waiting I asked about the GM seat covers because I have the infamous ebony lint seats. The service department rep said she'd wait a little bit, because there has been a tsb out on this issue since 2007. She said the 2009's have a different cloth interior, and there is a chance that GM will do something about it yet... Maybe... Someday..?

While on this topic, they didn't have the GM seat covers in stock to look at in person, and when the parts guy tried to look them up, he couldn't find them for my truck. I have the 40-20-40 front bench with the middle under-seat storage compartment & fold down backrest with storage. Anyone have this set up and able to find seat covers?

I got some coverking seat covers (bought from a member on here incidentally) and they fit perfect, feels great. The ones I have are neoprene...

Ive looked at several different brands of seatcovers and I think the Wet Okole and CoverKings are both top knotch, I had the Wet Okole covers in my 06 Frontier and they worked great keeping my seats dry, I wash houses and cars and swim alot and now looking for seatcovers again. Ebay has some nice looking Synthetic leather covers for 180 but quality is a concern for me, anyone see those? Catchskin leather would be sweet, but 500 bucks and a pain to install- sensors ect.. I like the feel of my LINTy cloth and it keeps me busy keeping it clean and Iam busy enough cleaning other peoples stuff. Maybe we should change this topic to how to cover up your factory lint-trap cloth, because Chevy isnt going to do nothing period Buy some seatcovers and no I dont sell seatcovers

i took mine and parked it GMAC local office in ATLANTA and told them i wasn't keeping it and paying for something with lint covered seats. the point being the older cloth in the 06 and back did not collect lint like this stuff. they pissed and moaned about me leaving there and not paying for it but i drove and left it. in 24 hours the manager called me and said the dealer would cover the seats immediately if i came back and got the truck. next day they agreed to cover the seats in new cloth or leather; i could pay the difference in material costs between fabric and leather; i did and now have a soft touch leather for about 350. they dont want a bunch of trucks financed with GMAC brought back ; believe that. mine is fixed. if you financed through GMAC you have leverage.

Yeah,You could do that....You were lucky in that they helped you out,However....if they don't do anything like they did for you,Your only ruining your own credit,So in the end your only hurting yourself.

I've used this new high tech lint remover. It's a little pricey but I like the results.

Yep,I use either that or clear packing tape.

yes Rich you are correct theorectically; but that was a chance i was willing to take. it was more of a princapal issue with me; the older premium cloth didnt collect lint and first and foremost they promised a "fix" over a year ago. it should have been handled differently and sometimes we have to stand up to corporate giants. i cant speak for anyone else; but i was ashamed to let people see the inside of my truck. it was awful. and i clean my truck weekly and i just couldn;t keep the lint off. i probably blew my top too quickly; but other issues were frustrating me too; like Bridgestone saying no "OE" TIRES CARRY ANY WARRANTY. first time i heard that. they are worn out and chopped up at 20k miles and the dealer nor BRIDGESTONE will help out. So i was mad and had enough. i probably wouldn't do it again. As far as credit; we all may have none before long anyway; or maybe we will get a bailout. i'm not advising anyone to jump the gun like me; but it did work. but still cost 350 bucks to cover one split bench seat. i only paid the diff between cloth and leather. they didnt lose much if anything

 Well,....I'm on the list now to. The area GM rep told me they should have parts in november,.....right.

We shall see,......

This is the standard M.O. right? They tell you replacement parts are only 3 weeks out. You cool off, adjust, cave in, etc. If you are still pissed you get the oil change certificate. NICE.

Then you go postal and get what you should have gotten at first. Your seats fixed. :D

So has anyone seen the material on the 09 seats yet?
