Why are some performance mufflers "chambered" baffled" and others have a strait thru design with sometype of screen, ceramic packed? is this for sound difference; or flow difference? some say the chambered dont work as well with NBS//FMT-SWICTHING BETWEEN V8/V4. Any truth to this or just rumor? thanks

chambered mufflers tend to restrict air flow, causing a loss of low end torque. And straight through allow for better flow, and sound, increasing your torque and improving gas mileage. As for V8 to V4 mode I'm not quite sure.. There should be an option to disable that imo

No matter what, a louder exhaust will give more drone with the AFM due to the tuning of the mufflers.

Unless you go with a company like Corsa, their mufflers are specifically engineered to remove certain frequencies, thats why they are so large. If you look at a cutaway, they aren't like a traditional muffler as the exhaust pipe itself is almost straight through the muffler. Small slits are cut around the pipe to expose the gas flow to a series of channels and passages that are in the muffler. It's specifically tuned to remove the AFM harmonics.
