You don't actually believe that do you? Are you talking about the seriously Kool-Aid-Drunken Toyo Loyalists here or Toyota? Either way, it's still the "Truck that's changing it all", like people's perception of Toyota quality. But the fanboys are already saying: "At least they are doing the right thing and fixing it". But when any domestic has a recall, they are a POS.

that is exactly my point VMAX2007. Our cables on our tailgates bust: POS. Toyotas TAILGATES bust: bad batch of metal. Our D-MAX engine dies: POS. Toyota's camshaft breaks: Bad batch of metal. WTF WTF WTF. TOYOTAS SUCK IN MY OPINION but NOOOOOOOO "Toyota Can Never Fail", what you need to be BI**H slapped with all the bad metal that is coming out of their factories............(Sorry for the rant)

I'm not all that thrilled with the minor and semi-minor defects I have contended with from day one with my 2004 Silverado.

 

But, knowing other makes also have defects eases the pain.

 

I just wish Chevy would build a very basic model truck akin to the older days where acces to the inner parts of the dash and various components was much easier.

 

I also tired of fighting Chevy regarding warranty work.

 

Same old refrain, even after leaving the truck at the various dealers for up to 5 days at a time.

 

"Can't replicate the problem," I heard at this dealer then that dealer then the dealer miles away.

 

The EXACT same phrase as if the service writer was repeating a memo they had read!!!!!!

 

I don't want to bash Chevy too much since other makes also do not treat customers as well as they should.

 

I have to admit, though. When it's time for a new truck, after the bad warranty work experinces time after time after time.... how many times? More than a dozen...... I kinda' doubt I would buy another Chevy.

 

Considering the high price Toyota charges for their product, however....seemingly based upon past reputation, I doubt I would consider a Toyota.

 

Eeeeeeek!!!!!!!!! Will there be a Ford in my future??!!!!

I don't think anyone out there actually thinks that Toyota was going to build a perfect product. At least they are going to take care of it.

 

I don't know why everyone here thinks people only buy another product especially the Tundra because it is built better. (not that I think it is built better) Maybe they bought it for it's looks or capabilities.

obbop, it almost sounds like your problems are more with the dealer themselves that Chevy. Have you tried going to a different dealership.

You know how ford had that recall and it was all over the news. And yeah there was a larger recall on the ford but they sell a lot more trucks than toyo. But the thing that pisses me off is the media doesnt touch the toyo when something goes wrong but when its good they are all over it!

 

It just goes to show how politics affect every day life. and this is just my opinion but its kinda like the democratic party like toyo the media is all over it when its good. And republican like American Chevy/ford they are all over it when they make mistakes.

You summed it up nicely. But my biggest thing isn't "the media" as a whole. It is people who are supposed to be in the know and actually produce their "findings" and how everyone buys into the whole "american sux foreign rules" mentality. If you buy a certain vehicle because it has some kind of feature or gadget or because the price is just right that is one thing, but it is when people blindly assume that foreign cars are always better that I get upset.

No one has mentioned the bad transmissions in the new Toyota trucks. Some have had their Toyota transmissions replaced more than once.

 

I do recall reading that Toyota finally located the problem.

 

"Last Tuesday the Toyota Tundra was kicked off the Consumer Reports "Recommended" list for achieving below average predicted reliability scores from its own owners. It appears, however, that the Tundra's week is about to get worse. With the help of Mike Levine from Pickuptruck.com, we're following two separate stories about Tundra quality issues that have surfaced recently. The first involves the Tundra's transmission, with at least ten owners at TundraSolutions.com reporting that their trannies experience rough shifts that make the truck feel like it's riding over rumble strips. The 'rumble strip' transmission issue has been acknowledged by Toyota North America and traced back to the torque converter not disengaging properly. Owners report having their transmissions replaced with new or remanufactured ones, though Toyota told Levine that going forward the automaker would only replace the torque converter itself. Toyota did not say, however, how many trucks are affected, just that the transmission problem is not a safety or design issue."

Man, I just don't really care anymore. And it's not just the uninformed media. You hear the same crap for everything, whether it be a vehicle, a computer, or a restaurant. You always hear the same line, "Well I (or friend) had a bad experience (insert limited experience here), therefore I will never ever buy (insert product) or go to (insert restaurant) ever again." I mean, what the heck? Are you really that short-sighted to think your limited experience and expertise is enough to justify banning a brand/place forever?

 

I say, let them buy or go where ever they want. I can, of course, explain how wrong they are, but it's just not my job to sell them on anything. I mean, what do I get from it? Nothing. Maybe after they've gone through every manufacture will they finally learn that nothing is perfect. As long as I'm happy with my reasonably informed decision, that's all I care about.
