Pennzoil?

Does anyone have any experience using Pennzoil motor oils? I am interested in using the regular "Yellow Bottle", the Light Truck and SUV formula, or maybe the High Mileage. These will be used in a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado (5.3L) and a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe (3.5L). Any input is very appreciated. Thanks!

I know the Penzoil Platinum synthetic (Group III) is a very good oil on the level with Mobil1. I have heard not so great things about their dino oils, however.

Pennzoil is all I,and my Dad,Has ever used.

My '88 Corsica has over 242,000 miles on the original engine using nothing but Pennzoil 5W-30.

I did switch over to "High-Mileage" a few years ago just because of the mileage, and to see if it made any difference in gas mileage or oil consumption,It didn't.

I still get 25/26 MPG back-n-forth to work and it only burns 1/2 quart of oil every 3,000 miles...Not bad for 242,000 miles!!!

My Dad also has a '95 Lumina with 146,000 miles on it,and my Mom has a '96 Beretta with 115,000 miles on it,Both have had nothing but Pennzoil 5W-30 since new.

We also use Pennzoil here at the dealership.

I think it's very good oil considering it's price. The previous owner of my truck ran nothing but Pennzoil 5W-30 until they sold it to me with 152k miles. I've been doing the same for 20k miles now, I would switch to Pennzoil Platinum, but I have to fix a small leak before I do that. Just don't run too long on a single oil change, no longer than 5,000-6,000 miles, I usually change my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles.

Pennzoil is and will be the only oil that goes into any of my vehicles.

It is what I use in my ATV and truck.

And until I decide to spend the extra $$$$ for synthetic, Ill continue to use regular Pennzoil 10W40.

As said before their full synthetic is pretty good.

I've been using Pennzoil on all my vehicles since I was 16 I'm 33 now and never had any problems. I don't like Quakerstate as it seems to be thinner than Pennzoil. I know that sounds funny but, my first car ran like crap and smoked a bit on Quaker state. Soon as I put Pennzoil in it; it ran like a top. Didn't help that my first car was totalled by some idiot pulling a U-Turn.

Anyways Pennzoil all the way!!!!

I would suggest Amsoil or if you dont want to pay that much go with a Castrol. Penzoil leaves alot sludge build up over long term use.

I used penzoil for 4 years in my BMW, then tried Castrol and it completely cleaned all the sludge that the penzoil left in the engine. And I always drive the car and bring it to temp before draining the oil to get all of it out.

Wouldn't reccommend penzoil.

Been using Pennzoil for over 40 years. Too many vehicles to name. Several with around 200,000 miles. A BUNCH of them with over 100,000 miles.

I have never had an oil related failure. A couple of then were eventually rebuilt... not because of oil usage but to make hotrods out of them. Went back with standard size inserts, mains and rings and they had VERY, VERY SMALL ridges on the cylinders.

One 302 Ford that I rebuilt into a hotrod, was about 14 years old, had 150,000 miles on it and had a teenager driving it for a good part of it's life. :D Nothing was EVER put in it but Pennzoil ... Yellow Bottle.

I use it in all the vehicles I currently own. Including the Chevy work van and the new Cadillac DTS Performance Sedan. :D

    • Brought my 2015 Colorado into the dealership to check my touch screen issues, had that ghost touch thing happening. They said I needed a new touch screen and they could either order me one for $500. The lady at the service deck was nice enough to tell me I could order a touch screen online for less, she did stipulate that the touch screen had to be factory OEM, you can't pair an aftermarket screen to my radio seeing it was 2015, it had to be a GM factory OEM only. I found a few on Amazon and Ebay by the numbers on the back of the old screen, DJ080PA-01A GM# 22740886, Some said "OEM" in the description and others just said "Replacement". Would a replacement be the same as a OEM as long as it had the same numbers on the back of the screen? In some of the descriptions they also show different brand names but same numbers, is that an issue?
    • I have both but typically use the 4 legged walker (wheels on front, ski's on back).   The four wheeler is starting to be used on "longer" outdoor walks.  The 4 legged walker is particularly helpful in practicing good walking posture.  Both of my knees are at different stages of recovery and I'm trying to not develop poor habits.  I can actually manage with a cane but it's very difficult not to favor one leg over the other.  My PT recommends I continue with my 4 legged walker for a while.  Yesterday was four weeks since my last knee replacement and I'm excited about my progress to date.  It has been a hell of a rough journey so far but it is exciting to witness  systematic and continuous improvement.  I went for years watching the decline of my "mobility".  It seems that everyday now I am alerting my wife to something I can do now that I couldn't a day or two ago!  I encourage anyone facing the prospect of knee replacement to share any concerns with others who have had the surgery.  It isn't an instant fix but rather is a considerable amount of short term pain for long term gain.  Recovery time and pain levels vary for individuals post surgery but the end results are typically very positive and I've never encountered anyone regretting having had the surgery.
    • The lifter issue can be dealt with by shorter oil changes and quality oil IMO.
    • Got heavy rain, hail and light rain yesterday.
    • I'm putting in an A-pillar pod/gauges, and I'm asking if anybody can identify a (preferably) fuse for a switched power and illumination circuit on the driver's side interior fuse panel. Offhand, everything I checked with a test light was constant-hot, and I'd much rather uses a piggyback fuse. I can certainly find a wire, but I'd rather not half-tap.   Thanks in advance for any help.
