06 1500hd Fuel Mileage?

I've read a lot of threads on here about fuel mileage but haven't seen anything definitive/real world for the 2006 1500HD 4x4 Crew Cab w/6.0 and 3:73 gears? I am going back and forth between this and an Avalanche, and while the window sticker for the HD says14/17...I'd like to know from the guys/gals who use them?

Thanks in advance.

I dont have one, but I have a 2500HD which is heavier, and I get 12.6 at the lowest in winter & 13.8 at highest in summer, I would say 13.5 - 14.5 you would do depending on how healthy the 6.0 is

I have a 06 K 1500 HD same as you described and I have done the follwing mods; 265/75 revos, volant cai, diablosport tune, magnaflow cat-back single exit exhaust. Around town i average 11-12 and highway is around 14-15 at best. The truck pulls well and towing I average 8-9 with a 3000 pound trailer on the highway.

How much do you think the mods changed your fuel consumption? Can this truck tow 10k(not on a regular basis). How does it do when towing 5k up a fairly good grade?

The mods that I have done really did not change the fuel mileage at all the truck does have more power than stock. I have not towed a trailer that heavy with my truck. My towing consists of my snowmobile trailer which is about 3000 lbs 7 1/2 ft tall and 8 1/2 wide.Pretty much like towing a billboard down the road at highway speed. Just my 2 cents if you need to tow that heavy go with 4.10 rear. My usual towing is done in the New England area with plenty of hills and such on the highways. My truck does pretty well with my trailer much better than my 05 1500 CC with the 5.3l 3.42 rear end.
