Nbs '07 Problems

Recommended Posts

From what I have been reading on this site, some '07 NBS trucks have the following common problems:

sunroof water leaks

On-star antenna water leaks

rear main seal oil leaks

camshaft position sensor gasket/O ring oil leaks

faulty fuel gauges

various interior squeaks and creaks

wind whistling noise on extended cabs

vibration issues

Any other problems? Have they been pretty much eliminate for the '08 model year?

Please add to the list if there is another common issue that I did not list.

Well,I'm getting ready to turn over 10,000 miles and so far I haven't had any issues....Knock on wood! :smoker:

I hope I'm not jinxing myself :D

Just hit 20,000 miles and the only issue I've had and still have is the lint attracting seats. You might want to add that to your list as well.

i only had the oil ring leak and sometimes the gas gauge. I haven t owned a new GM yet that hasn t had at least that amount of issues (including my 04 SS Silverado). :smoker:

It's a huge task... creating a completely new vehicle.

Sadly, many of the problems you list are typical of GM first year vehicles (or some first year vehicles in general). I'm sure a lot of work has been done to eliminate most of them for 2008. Luckily I have had very few problems with my 07, but I have had a couple of first year issues.

The last couple of years in a production run normally are the best vehicles.

Owners of 05, 06, and 07 Classic trucks are probably pretty happy.

Oh yea,I forgot about that little issue,Although mine actually doesn't attract as much as it use to,Plus I have a towel over my driver's seat.

That's not worth noting. I do not consider excessive lint a problem.

No issues here, stick to your own model year.

And what is that supposed to mean? I am asking these questions because someone I know is interested in an new '08. And maybe I am too - that is I will be if/when they make the AFM switchable ON/off by the driver.

2008 GMC Regular Cab Long Bed 4x4 Work Truck

Gotta love the truck. Period.

Ordered truck. Manufactured in Pontiac, Michigan.

Not problem free. Came from day one with a bent driveshaft. Replaced promplty same day and with loaner car. One piece of molding on driver bottom window came unstuck.

This truck rides beautifully. Build quality for interior is excellent. Paint excellent. Everything seems to fit. No rattles. I did have one rattle that I previously mentioned but it was ICE between my shell and rear of cab.

Work Truck

4.8

4x4

Locking Differential

Tow Package

Skid Plate Package

Plow Prep Package (no plow)

Power Window

I mean that sometimes when owners of previous models ask those type questions, and then list them, they can be perceived as stirring up trouble. And GM will never make AFM with an on/off switch. And there is no reason to make it that way.

They will never put a AFM on/off switch. I am sorry but that just does not make any sense whatsoever. The switch between V4 mode, and V8 mode is seamless. You cannot notice it, the only way I know the truck is in V4 mode is when I watch the DIC and it tells me the truck is in V4 mode. I also really like having AFM, becuase I know it saves me fuel. All AFM does to make the truck run in V4 mode is to shut off the fuel injection into 4 of the cylinders.

What I meant was an AFM disable switch.

Just like a disable switch for traction control on many vehicles.

And AFM does more than just shut off fuel to 4 cylinders. It has to deactivate the valves in those cylinders too by keeping them open during the compression cycle, otherwise the compression of air without fuel would take place, negating any fuel savings whatsoever.
