Fortunately, the damage is not that bad. I hit a deer in 1984 in West Virginia and it did about $ 1,200 worth of damage to the car, which did not belong to me! What an embarrassing situation that was, but there was nothing I could do. The deer jumped out of dense woods onto the road and I hit it at about 60 MPH. It was dead upon impact.

A deer hit me in late November. I got 2 dents in the fender, a dented door and smashed mirror. $1,100.00 to fix. They repaired the dents, blended the paint on the door and replaced the mirror. I don't think they'll replace the door skin on yours, just repair, paint it and a new moulding.

Sorry to hear that! You don't see too many deer collisions of that nature. Was the deer drunk?

don't they make what they call "deer wistles" ? works same way as a dog wistle does.. the frequency is so high pitched humans can't hear it but deer do? I think iv seen them on cars before.. a little 10$ device to prevent 1000s of dollars of damage. might be a good idea if it really works...

I did similar damage on my passenger side door that came from the side of a building (I dont wanna talk about it )

I took it to a local body shop that I really like and trust and they replaced the door skin and repainted the door. It prolly just depends on the damage and the shop.

I had a mishap in the snow December 29th, of last year. Snow plow left a big pile of snow across the end of an on ramp, I went around it to avoid going in the ditch and rolled my truck on its side. Damaged the whole drivers side. They replaced the skin on each section (door, fender, rear door, bed), and also the inner skin on the bed. Insurance companies dont really repair anymore, its easier, and apparently more cost effective to replace. I wish my damage was as minimal as yours. I think someone at the body shop started my truck without checking for fluid movement, and did damage. I been fighting the insurance company for over a month and a half now and still dont have my truck back. They took it to a dealer now for a complete engine teardown to find out what the problem is. Apparently there was metal shavings/pieces when draining the oil and theres a loud noise when the engine is running, so we'll see what they find out. Sorry if I jacked your thread, didnt mean to. Those deer whistles don't do crap. My mom had them on her car, and the deer actually seemed to be attracted to the car... Go figure...

From the picture, it looks like they could replace the door skin, blend the cab corner and fender and it would look like it never happened. My guess is about $1450.00 US. If they can repair the paneel, it should be closer to $1000.00 at normal shop rates.

Deer are tough, you can never tell what they are going to do. Bummer about the damage.
