Recommended Posts

Too all,

I just received two new pairs of door handles for my new 07 NBS. I would like to know if any of you other gurus know a short cut to getting these installed on the truck because the directions are rather involved......

Don't know what your instructions say, but...

1) Remove vertical handle cover.

2) Remove triangle cover behind side mirror by prying it off.

3) Unbolt and remove vertical handle.

4) Pry out cover behind regular handle.

5) Pry out cover behind the handle to open the door.

6) Remove bolts behind those covers (3-10mm)

7) Unlock door, pry of the little square in the middle of the knob, and remove knob.

8) Pull up on and remove window switch plate.

9) Start at bottom of door prying out to release clips.

10) With entire door panel loose raise it straight up, and out.

11) Fish the cable pull for the interior door handle loose from the handle.

12) Locate the bolts for the handle and remove them. (2-10mm).

13) Push handle towards the front to release clip and pull out.

14) Remove latching rod, and clip retaing lock cylinder.

15) Reverse operation with new handle.

That should cover it.

Those are the same instructions I used to install mine. Really good! The panel doesn't come completely off since the inner handle is connected by a non removable cable. (unless you unbolt the latch assy) It has to lean inward and you work in the tight space between the panel and door. The only pain in this is reinstalling the nuts on the backside of the handle. Removal isn't bad but the nuts may fall into the bottom of the door. No biggie though... juts have your trusty extension magnet wand handy. Reinstalling them without being able to see the target was a bit of a pain but it was worth it.

Same instructions i used very helpful!!!!!!

FYI if you drop a screw out of the handle there is a shelf that is about halfway up the door that you can't see till you put your head in there. I thought i lost a screw in the bottom of the door!!!!!!!

I put some gum on my socket to prevent it from the nut from falling off the socket. :M16:

Had a bit of cleanup afterwards, but i never dropped one nut.

Sears sells some nifty magnetic inserts that go in deep sockets. I have used mine a million times. I believe that KD tools also makes them.

Here is anouther tip.

You can remove the entire door panel no problem!

The clip that holds the cable to the door handel can be unlocked.

All you have to do is push in then sqeeze the back of the clip and it unlocks no problem!
