Any body have kids in baseball? I got a phone call tonight telling me I have until midnight tonight to get my grandson signed up. What a crock. I think they should send something in the mail to remind you. I've been a coach for the last 2 yrs. and they pulled the same sh-t on me last year. I made a few phone calls and was able to get him signed up,but my nerves can't take this any more. If I can ever figure out how to post pix I'll get some on here of my boy. He had a .719 batting ave last year, and our team went 14-1. Sorry guys, I just had to vent a little bit. thanx

Don't get me started on our local little league. Ours is not supported by the city's parks/recreation so it is practically club ball. My son is a T-Baller and wants to play so I am good with that. My problem is that it cost me $240.00 this spring, $15 higher than last spring. That is more than double of what other area city supported leagued have to pay. On top of that they want volunteers for EVERYTHING; from concessions to grounds work. If your an electrician, keep quiet they have lots of work for you.

That $240 is just a start, I have already written more checks totaling about $75 for this and that fundraisers.

In all fairness it is a good experience for the little guys but it is a considerable expense for anyone. We are blessed that it does not hit the budget as hard as it may others.

I needed to vent as well. My son is a young six year old (still five) and hits the ball better than all the almost seven year olds. Last year he was out hitting most of them as well....... We also went four games into the playoffs, three from the championship. My bragging moment

Sounds political like it was when I played little league when I was younger.

$240, that is insane. It was $45 for my grandson this year, but you have to understand, I live in the home of Hot Stove Baseball here in Alliance, Ohio. The league does everything from issuing team uniforms and equipment, so, I thank God for that. The only thing that upset me last year and the one before is with both of our 1 loss seasons we didn't have playoffs, because he was in H1 baseball, and they consider it as still an instructional league like T-ball, but with kid's pitching. He is 9 yrs this year and will be in H2 where we can play for all the marbles. I'm glued to the ball park watching teams from all over the state during the playoffs. Hell, I'd rather watch the different age boy's play, rather than the big leagues, far more exciting. Well, good luck this season, hope your boy tears 'em up. Thanx for replying. Jeff

Good luck to your Grandson as well, I hope he does just as well.

I did not mention that the Grandparents do have a new past time watching my boy and his cousin, they are on the same team and both are above par players. They really enjoy it.

O-yeah one more thing, that $240 does not stop our LL from being one of the biggest in the area. I guess being in the middle of "Suburbia" every kid wants to play. I think some of the parents want their kids to play ball more than they want to, he he :D

I'm really surprised at how much money my parents spent on me playing baseball. I was cleaning out the basement, and ran across some of my old catchers gear, and asked my dad how much they spent, and it it was ridiculous, especially considering how bad of a hitter I was. :D

It's great to see our young kids enjoying the game from around the USA. It is crazy in Alliance. Starting in H2 we actually have to contract our kids. No lie, they have to sign a 2 yr contract, and the ones not signed go into a draft, and it really does get crazy. Some parents actually get pissed that their child didn't get picked by a certain team, and it gets WILD. To much political bullsh*t if you ask me. I am looking toward a really good season again. We contracted 8 of our 13 players from last yr so far, I believe we can contract 10 before we have to do the draft. I'll find out tomorrow night. Thanx for the interest on this topic. Jeff
