Speakers In Tahoe

Hello, all. I've been reading numerous topics here about replacing stock speakers, and frankly it's a little confusing. Or frustrating. Or maybe I just need some opinions in direct relation to what I have. I just bought a 2001 Tahoe, and am loving it. I noticed that sound output from the passenger door was noticeably different than the rest, and when I shifted the balance knobs to that door the only sound was from the tiny tweeter. I took the panel off, removed the 6.5", and found the cone completely separated from the base/magnet, so it was completely trashed. I went to the dealership and they wanted me to give them $70 for the speaker, which I definitely will not do. So I am looking at upgrading the speaker setup in my truck.

I listen to music a lot, and its primarily very heavy, bassy, technical metal. I really want high end, top quality sound with a lot of power, but I don't want to spend a large amount of money. So far I have narrowed it down to a few companies based on all the topics I've read: Infinity, Polk Audio, or Kenwood. What brand would be best for music that has many layers with lots happening at the same time? Also my Tahoe has the single sub in the back driver side, what's a good replacement for that (if any)? Also where should I buy speakers online (besides eBay). Any advice/opinions or experiences with products is very welcome. Thanks.

I just replaced all 5 speakers in my 01 Tahoe. Ran me about 110 for the speakers and 40 to install. Of course I went aftermarket and got a hell of a deal.

Found the 6.5"s at best buy on clearance for $9.99 a pair and this kat sold me an 8'" kicker for the back for $75. He installed everything for $40
