Any Rumors For The 2009 Silverado?

I plan to order a 2008 Silverado 1500, 2WD. But I was wondering if there might be some major improvements coming for 2009 - like maybe a 6 speed auto tranny in the 1/2 ton?? 4 wheel discs for the 1/2 ton?

I might have to wait anyway if the axle folks are on strike.

I've heard that information on the 2009 GMT900 trucks will be released on April 14th. I can't say for certain whether or not this is true though. I mean, I heard it on the internet, so I assume it's 100% correct :D

The more your tranny has speeds the better the MPG, right ?

Wouldn't that mean then that a CVT tranny would get infinite mileage? :D

correct settings and ratios - yes, if not then no...just look at the other manufacturers

A little, assuming there will be two OD speeds instead of one, which should allow a taller top gear. The other advantage is the ability to divide the TQ curve into more segments which means the motor spends more time in the sweet spot. In short, the A6 should accellerate better than the A4 and get a little better mileage.

Unfortauntaly, many people think the main advantage is MPG, when in reality, it's a combination of accelleration AND MPG.

I think the new smaller 4.5 liter diesel is supposed to come for the 2010 model year and for the 6 speed, it all depends on if they have the production capacity.

Well in the case of the 6L80E, both 5th and 6th gears are indeed "tall" overdrive gears while first is a very "steep" gear to maximize acceleration.

I can't wait to see the final production little Duramax. I think it should be a sweet truck. Hopefully get good milage, be a 1500 HD, and maybe with a few mods run really quick. I think it is rated at 310/520 now but im sure it will go out by the time it comes out.
