Bought Used Hypertech Max Energy Need Some Help

I bought a hypertech max energy used only once to tow and get firmer shifts. i got it off a family friend. They removed the tune from their vehicle before they gave it to me. When i start the unit up it says 2001 silverado, and it says update required. No big deal. But I cant find where to update the thing,a nd the manual says nothing about where to find such a thing. It works for 1995-2007s so it is compatable with my truck, just need to find out where they keep the update software. if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great. I have model 32000.

These programers are usually year specific. They can be sent back to be updated for your vehicle, but I think that it costs $200 to do this. Hope that you did not pay much for this. You should be able to go on the Hypertech web site to get their phone number. Myself, I would try to get my money back.

The max energy is not, it is for 1995-2007

Correction* unit says update required to program vehicle. See user manual for instructions.

You need to install the software from the CD that originally came with the tuner, that is the only way it will update. I think the program is called "tuner internet update application". The CD has the software and the hypertech owners manual on it.
