Supercharger And Warranty

I have a 2007 NBS Silverado 5.3 that I'd like to get some more towing and overall power out of. My question, is there a factory supercharger that I could get installed without voiding the warranty? I'm willing to beef up the transmission and rear end as well, if it can be done.

Warranty work is subject to each dealer. Go talk to your dealer to see if they will cover it.

If a failure is caused buy the blower its not covered. If it can't be tied to it then they have to cover it. It can't void your entire warrenty. Mark.

I'd bet money the installation of a supercharger, by anyone other than a GM facility, could and would be blamed for failures to the engine and drive train. I'd wait until my warranty ran out or just be ready to deal with any failures yourself.

Thanks guys. I had planned on talking with my dealer and fully expected that they would have to do the work. I was more curious if it is something that other service managers had done with GM's blessing. I'll let you know what he says.

Unless the supercharger is somehow certified by GM, having the dealer install it won't change the warrenty issue. Mark.

You are protected by the Magnusson-Moss warranty act so the burden of proof is on GM in the event you had a warranty claim after installing the supercharger if they elect to refuse coverage.

This doesn't really give you an answer for your current vehicle.

It's been rumored that Roush was going to be doing a Silverado. Of which would have full factory drivetrain warraties honored.

It has to have GM's blessing to be 100% covered. Otherwise you'll be be taking a chance for any driveline claim. But they can't deny anything unrelated. Mark.
