Column Shifter

The 99 is giving me some grief with shifting in and out of gear, at first I thought it was the W4M but I've got the stock ECU back in and I'm still getting the problem... What happens is when I start the truck up sometimes it will indicate that its in P or else there will be nothing selected. When I put it into R or D it's a gamble wether it will really go or if it will drop into neutral, and not have any indicator lit up. However when it does go into gear (90% of the time) it is next to impossible to get it into neutral...

 

Do I need to replace the shifter? Is there some circuitry I can check for wear/corrosion/dirt? I'm assuming the NBS99's have electric shifting not linkage...

look under the truck and make sure the linkage isnt scewed up somehow. jammed stick in it, kinked, loose retainer etc etc.

I'll be checking that tomorrow but something I forgot to mention which I'm thinking is relevant is that the Tow/Haul button no longer works either making me think something electronic...

I took a gander and the linkage is all good... That combined with the lack of tow/haul is making me think it's something electric... does anybody have a diagram of the shift system?
