Interior Rattles

Recommended Posts

I have a rattle that I believe is the passenger seat belt harness that is held at the roof of the truck. I am wondering if anybody has the same or similar rattle in that general area. I am pretty sure it is the harness because when someone is buckled up in that seat it seems as though it is non-existent. The dealer has replaced the back glass and a panel that had a broke clip. Still the same old rattle. :)

I also have one more that I am hearing behind the instrument cluster. For the most part it really only rattles after really hitting some worn out roads.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Josh

You are right about the seat belt one, and I as well have not been able to get it fixed. I am sure some others will chime in and give us some info on how to get it fixed. Sometimes I just resort to buckling the seatbelt up, even if nobody is sitting there.

replace seatbelt...that will fix it! same thing done to mine

Mine "was" doing the same thing,Up at the area where the seatbelt attaches to the B-pillar/roof....This might sound strange but it quit after awhile,As in after I put about 5-6,000 miles on it.

Mine's got it... generally worse in cold weather as opposed to warm. The fit must get tighter when the interior is warm/hot. It was pretty obnoxious on cold winter days....

The dealer says that is the next step is just replace the harness. Lately they have been replacing things like the back glass the first time round and that didn't solve anything. I'm sure GM didn't like that bill.

Anybody got a clue on the rattle behind the cluster?

Thanks for the replies!

Mine rattles where the A pillar on the driver's site meets the dash. If I hold down on the dash it stops. You might want to check there. Its not too bad, but it does get annoying on rough roads, especially in cold weather.

Thanks, I guess when I go to the dealer for the harness replacement I will ask where the Onstar module is at and see if thats the problem. I will check on the pillar to since it is accessible while driving.

What does the onstar module have to do with it?

I've heard some rattling but I generally attribute it to the 300 lbs of gear I have in the truck and toolbox. Also I did hear this clinking every now and then but it turned out to be my jack.

I'm guessing that GM installed them with cheap clips and maybe it has been knocked loose and that is what could be causing the rattle. Just my guess though.

Mine does the EXACT same thing, been in the dealer 6 times without a fix.

HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS???

i think i read that the onstar modeule near the center of dash on the 2007+ tahoes would become jarred loose and make a rattling noise. its worth checking out i guess?

also as some ppl had listed here and other threads that they had the dash rattle where the A pillar intersects the dash. some carefully placed/hidden double sided tape takes care of that!
