Here ya' go....

You can look at the first digit of your VIN and tell what country it was built in...

1-USA

2-Canada

3-Mexico

Also, most of you might not know that there is also an RPO code to tell you what plant your truck was built at....

OSH-Oshawa Ontario,Canada

CMD-Flint,Mi.

FWI-Ft.Wayne,In.

GMC-Pontiac,Mi.

MEX-Mexico City,Mexico

MSL-Silao,Mexico

ARL-Arlington,Tx.

JAN-Janesville,Wi.

The reason I ask is because Dan's build sheet has some RPO codes blanked out, and I did not see the plant for his build sheet.....but it has the plant code, I remember having the cross reference table for the plant codes for the build plant somewhere, this is the number I am talking about:

2008 Chevrolet Avalanche - 2WD | Avalanche, Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe, Yukon (VIN C/K) Service Manual | Document ID: 791715 Clearcoat Thickness The clearcoat on the vehicle is typically 0.059-0.078 mm (1.5-2 mils [0.0015-0.0020 in]) thick. The clearcoat contains ultraviolet screeners. Removing more than 0.5 mils (0.019 in) of the clearcoat may result in early paint failure.

I've never seen a cross reference chart/table for the build plant code,I've just always gone by the RPO code.

Even if the RPO code description is blanked-out (Like most of them are on Canadian market vehicles) it should still have the three digit plant RPO code.

just made a call and my old buddies said that the factory paint jobs range from 3.5 to 5.5 mils depending on application, for the trucks it is 4.5 to 6.0 mils (or should be anyway)
