I don't believe it is either rail dust or chemical spotting. I will try and get a decent picture of it tonight. The tough thing is that it is on the roof a couple inches in and pretty centered. So from an angle it looks like a couple water spots, but they never go away. I clayed it and waxed it thinking that it was something on the paint. But as soon as I started I knew it wasn't on the paint, but under. I couldn't get very close to it but it looks like whatever it is, is under the clear coat and caused it to bubble.

ouch. that does sound like a defective paint job

My 07 was repainted compliments of GM twice...

The dealership did an impeccable job too, both times...

Wow, I'm curious but at the same time scared.

The WHOLE truck? Twice?

Damn, at that point I'd be telling them to buy it back and I'd get another one.

I was concerned about that exact problem. Sorry man! Anyone else?

Are the 09's still presenting with paint issues?

While looking at a GMC 2500HD, I was checking out the "easy lift tailgate" after lowering it I looked at the lower edge (you can only see this area when lowered) there were areas of very light paint with areas of primer visable

Makes me wonder where else have they cut corners on these trucks.

I didn't read all 15 pages of this thread, but my 09 has what looks like chemical spotting on it. Primarily on the hood and front fenders, a bit on the hood. It is pretty deep in the CC though, their detail man used a medium foam and a light/medium cut polish on it, and was scared that he was going to smoke the clear if he went any farther. Is there any re-course on the 09 for shitty paint??

I believe they still have some problems. I brought my 09 in because of primer bleed through and could'nt figure out why they were so quick to fix it. Now I see why. They only spot painted mine but they did a great job so for now I have no complaints.

Apparently in '06 there were no obvious paint problems. Sure, the paint is pretty thin, but at least it is consistent in coverage without any obvious imperfections or primer showing through.

Dont care if they aren't considering '07's in this bulletin, but my black paint is as bad is they come.

The black paint is thin, so much so, they missed some areas, including behind and around my gas door. Its so thin, you can see through the paint and see what looks like primer (but only in direct sunlight) and it looks like UPS brown. The orange peel is pathetic, but that I could almost live with, it's the thin paint and missed area/spots that annoy the hell out of me. And I always have what looks ike rail dust, that isn't their problem though, just saying.

Oh, and I checked my vin and it starts with a 2... so good ol' canada plant, you SUCK.

Yep, sure seems like most paint complaints come from the Oshawa plant. Mine was made in Mexico and my paint is flawless, except for some minor orange peel, which is typical in today's water based paints.

My 2008 Sierra's clear coat is flaking off. What came of this bulletin? Did anyone get their trucks fixed? Can I get my VIN looked up for recalls and notices. VIN 2GTEK19J081201446
