Pic. of my old 96 1500 hooked to our Jayco Jayflight 29BHS! I wish now I had done more research on the specs. of this truck , all I do know it had the 5.7 and came from the factory with the tow package which included the trans. cooler! The combined weight loaded down was around 11,500#s and that truck pulled it all great! I owned the truck 12yrs. and only had just a couple of minor problems , fuel pump , radiator and intake gasket being the worst! The truck had 148,000 miles on it when I traded!

I owned that exact trailer up to last year. The jayflight is a nice trailer.

How do you feel the new truck pulls the camper on the hills.

Going up a hill I think they both are about the same the 06 would probably just edge the 96 out! Where the 06 HD shines is in the braking and suspension! On both trucks I only use drive 3 for towing and going up a long hill I try and find the trucks "sweet spot" gear put it there manually and not force the truck to work any harder than it has too! The mid 90's truck transmission's had a rep. of not being the best , the 96 had 148,000 on it when I traded and I never had a problem with it and it was just as strong the day I traded as the day I bought it! I believe the trans. cooler , regular services and the fact I never used overdrive except out on the interstate and never used it pulling had a whole lot to do with the transmission life!

Thanks Patrick! I think im am going with the ones from truckchamp.com heated power and signal. But if I can find some factory take offs cheap enough i'll get some OEM ones.
