Turn Signal Noise

I don't know if it can be turned off but its what keeps old people like myself from driving for 5 miles with the blinker on.

Don

Your truck will tell you if you've left it on for a mile or two. It'll scare the crap out of you too. Just driving along, minding your business, then all of a sudden...BONG BONG BONG BONG...And you have no idea what's going on until you look down and realize your signal is still flashing.

Try it next time you get on the highway and there isn't much traffic. Click the signal on and leave it on. It'll tell you.

As for the original question. DON'T I WISH there were a way. I guess if you could track down what's actually making the noise behind the dash, you could stick a screwdriver though it :D

Know what happens when someone cuts me off without using their blinkers? Get in front of them, and use the emergency brake. No turn signals, no brake lights....

Then I get called out to do my job, and figure out how it happened, After all my measurements, speed calculations, crush deformation measurements, and lamp light analysis, you would get charged. In Ohio, a vehicular assualt charge would work out just swell!!

Aparently you are a person that has never been run off the road or into a guard rail by someone that is unable to signal and just cuts you off. I can honestly say that I USED to have a 2003 Grand Am Gt and some assclown that used that logic decided to cut me off, ended up running over the front passenger quarter of the car, pushed me into the concrete highway divider, and totaled a car that had 22k miles on it. Oh yea, and as far as someone doing "their job" trying to figure out how it happened, guess what. I got a ticket for following too close and driving wrecklessly because aparently "I hit her". And also the person that was doing "their job" decided to say that the person that hit me had insurance when if he was able to read would have noticed that the insurance card had expired a month ago and had not been renewed. And also the person doing "their job" would have listened to the towtruck driver that was behind the car that was behind me that decided to run me into the wall when he said that they were on the phone, swirving around cars, and did not use their blinker when they clipped the front of my car.

So yes, I will occasionally get in front of a car that has done this ignorant crap to me and immediately they will start riding your ass. They back off when you slow down and since they see no taillights they will usually stay back. Aparently you read this and thought that I would lock up the brake....Jeez.

Have you ever tried stomping on the emergency brake doing 65mph? Not on some test track? That would be just retarded.....

And young people like me from using one cause of the annoying noise.

So, you just take the "they better just see me changin' lanes or turning and MOVE" approach to driving..??

I believe that's called the "Florida method" of driving.

Isn't it funny that you can pretty well tell how someone will drive just by looking at the license plates?

Around here (Kansas City, Missouri) if someone has Johnson county, KS plates, stand clear. They are too busy conducting business in the car to pay any attention to where they are or where they are going. And for them, blinkers are optional. In fact they probably take their cars back to Aristocrat motors because they cannot figure out why every once in a while the dash ticks and this little light on the IP blinks. Must be broke....

Without your clarification, it "sounded" like you yanked / stomped the emergency brake... as in you were PO'd and "wanted to show them." To me, it sounded like a good way to tick someone off and possibly get shot, but maybe that doesn't happen in your part of the country.......

I like the noise. :D

With the stereo on and windows down I can still hear it. I hate the fact that you can't hear the signal in her Impala.

I followed some old lady in a Prius on Saturday on the Interstate. She was in the left lane going 65.1 mph passing a truck going 65 mph. (Speed limit 70) Her left signal was on the whole time. We joked when she signalled to the right lane (15 miles later  ) it would stay on. . . . It did. 20+ miles with her signal on. I feel bad, it was probably running her batteries down and reducing her mileage . . .

It does and that is why you dont...

The farther away from the city the less likely you are to have some fool do this. None of the "Good 'ol boys" from where I am drive like idiots. Now when you get closer to downtown KC, watch out.... It is like playing Plinko (the game from the price is right) between Neons with whale tails and flourescent Cutlass's.

Instead of wrecking yours and their car why wouldnt you just do something moderate like go slow and speed up when they try to pass or get in front and constantly tap the brakes....i dont know about you, but im not wrecking my truck to "get back" at some a-hole.

Exactly. Just let them dive like an idiot, they'll get their's eventually.

I agree. It seems that whenever I'm running around anywhere in KC, no one uses signals and they pretty much all drive like asshats. JoCo drivers drive like they own the freakin road and everyone should just get out of their way because they are the most important person ever to put a wheel on I-435, Mo drivers drive like they never learned how to do it right in the first place. I just try to stay out of the city as much as possible.

HEY! So....

Actually if that one dude were to slam on brakes and I were to hit him, I would be charged.

I keep boxes of drywall screws in my center console and just take hand fulls of them and toss them out my window so the guy behind me runs over them and blows out his tires. That'll teach those assholes.:D

Seriously though (and not to offend any LEO's here), but I feel like the cops are somewhat to blame. I watch cops switch lanes without signals all the time. I also watch them sit next to me and not pull people over who do it right in front of them. Ultimately, people are just selfish and lazy on the roads and don't care what responsibilities they have and what sort of influence they actually have on the lives of other people when they are driving a 4000 pound bullet while doing their makeup and talking on the phone.

I'd like to see the driver's license age upped to 18 and I think driving tests should be mandatory every 5 years until a person is 55 years of age. Once 55, they should occur every 2 years until 65. Any one over the age of 65 should be required to pass a driving test every year.

And then you have problems with the ACLU because of age-ism.

Note: Not disagreeing with you.
