Turn Signal Noise

I keep boxes of drywall screws in my center console and just take hand fulls of them and toss them out my window so the guy behind me runs over them and blows out his tires. That'll teach those assholes.

Seriously though (and not to offend any LEO's here), but I feel like the cops are somewhat to blame. I watch cops switch lanes without signals all the time. I also watch them sit next to me and not pull people over who do it right in front of them. Ultimately, people are just selfish and lazy on the roads and don't care what responsibilities they have and what sort of influence they actually have on the lives of other people when they are driving a 4000 pound bullet while doing their makeup and talking on the phone.

I'd like to see the driver's license age upped to 18 and I think driving tests should be mandatory every 5 years until a person is 55 years of age. Once 55, they should occur every 2 years until 65. Any one over the age of 65 should be required to pass a driving test every year.

And then you have problems with the ACLU because of age-ism.

Note: Not disagreeing with you.

And that is precisely why this country is so ****ing stupid. How dare one suggest that the decrepit are less capable of quick reactions and maintaining awareness? Oops, I just crapped my pants, Margaret.

You should put that one up on www.petitiononline.com and see how many sign it. I for one would...

Along with this can we make it impossible for rear view mirrors to be pointed at the driver so they can put on their makeup while driving and put in cell phone blockers inside cars that disable phones unless you make them hands free? And while we are at it can we put some sort of sensor on the headliner so if someone is reading a book or the newspaper and the car is in drive and moving it slaps them?

And how about forcing people to use their cell phone numbers for their license plates so you can call them and tell them what they are doing wrong? Kind of like the "how is my driving" stickers?

Seems that when I get cut off, 95% of the time, they're on the cell phone. :D

I've considered rigging up one of those 2000ft radius cell phone jammers on my truck. But I've read articles about people getting sued for that. Something about emergency 911 calls and such :lol:

Regardless of how many times a person takes the test they can still be horrible drivers and obtain their license. Maybe driving classes should be tacked on for those who fail.

I watch cops switch lanes without signals all the time.

The last time I had to drive in to work, I had a cop cut across my lane, cross the double-white ("do not cross this or you'll get a ticket") line, without a turn signal, so he could hit his exit... No flashing red & blues. No sense of urgency or any indication that he "needed" to get somewhere fast. Just "opps! There's my exit. *sweeeerve!!!*"

I think you are missing my point.

Fail and lose the PRIVILEGE of driving.

I don't care how they learn, just learn or don't drive. In the case of the older people, well, if it's that time, it's just that time. I don't want to be a danger to others just because I want to drive but can't.

Right. That is what the O.A.T.S. bus is for.

That would be just retarded.....

Without your clarification, it "sounded" like you yanked / stomped the emergency brake... as in you were PO'd and "wanted to show them." To me, it sounded like a good way to tick someone off and possibly get shot, but maybe that doesn't happen in your part of the country.......

It does and that is why you dont...

The farther away from the city the less likely you are to have some fool do this. None of the "Good 'ol boys" from where I am drive like idiots. Now when you get closer to downtown KC, watch out.... It is like playing Plinko (the game from the price is right) between Neons with whale tails and flourescent Cutlass's.

Its the same way around here. The farther you get away from the city the better the driving. Until night time on the weekend, you gotta keep watch for a ol boy thats had one too many and deer

Yeah, but im just saying most people have to drive and mass transportation isnt everywhere. If they fail once they will keep coming back till they get a push over examiner and pass, but they will still be considered a crappy driver. Ive actually thought about what your saying before though....it's a great idea....when you go to renew your license you take a test too....works out great.

I agree completely. I know my grandfather used to be an absolutely horrible driver (almost backed over our mailbox which is 6 feet away from the driveway).

I also think that written tests should be given every so often. Yes, it would be a huge pain in the ass, but I think it would keep a lot (but not all) of the idiots off of the roads. I remember when I was studying for the test to get my permit, I asked my parents some of the questions, and they got most of them wrong. We all just need a refresher every now and then.

I saw something on the news about how New Jersey has the stupidest drivers based an online test GMAC did. GO JERSEY! :D

There'd be plenty of savvy businessmen out there prepared to provide the public transportation were there to be a calling for it, I'm certain of that. It's not everywhere right now because it's not profitable. If it were, it would be.

As for the push over examiner, that's the problem now, the entire process is a friggin' sham. Examiners should be measured against the ticket and accident rates of those they allow to have licenses and paid more or fired accordingly. People don't "have" to drive more than people "need" to live. Getting the idiots off the streets should be common sense but like so many other things government controlled, the BMV system is a joke at best.

Most of the time the problem isn't that people don't know HOW to drive, it's that they choose to drive the way they do. Most of the idiots on the road could pass a test if they HAD to, then they would simply revert back to their "own way" of driving. We are all guilty of it to a point, some people just take it way too far and become complete idiots.
