Wait4me Performance

Hey guys,

Just recieved my new tuned from Jesse for my 2007 NBS Sierra 5.3. I had previously had my 2005 Avalanche tuned by him, and was very impressed; could hear and feel a difference immediately. I think it's safe to say that I was expecting a lot out of it for my Sierra.

So I hooked up my new PCM and cranked her up. No lights, no warnings, no sensors. Everything was good to go. Took her out on the road and beat her up for the next 30 minutes, and that's all it took. Disappointed to say I'm not impressed in the very least. I came home and took out the tuned PCM and put my stock back in. Couldn't light the tires up, no change in shift points/firmness. It actually seemed that I *lost* HP from 65mph and up. My V4 mode was removed, which bites. Only thing I could tell was changed was the speed limiter. Got her up to 110, though it seemed to take forever. My avalanche has a good extra lbs, considering how big it is and the fact I have mudders on it; but my avy has no problem running up to 120 quickly.

I'm very disappointed, but I have to ask. Is it simply because I haven't let it "learn" my driving habits, and should I run through a couple tanks of gas and then make the decision or should I go with my first impression and return for a refund(if possible, lol) then go with someone else? Wheatley, Black Bear, Nelsons.. etc.

Any remarks/advice is cool. ty

Wait4Me sucks!!! Call Justin at BlackBear. Nelson and Wheatley are good tuners (I have a Nelson tune) but they are way too busy and their customer service sucks because of it. Plus, Justin is cheaper....and better.

there is no learning necessary. learning just adjusts fuel trims a bit, but thats not going to help give you power. sounds like a bad tune

First, as usual, ignore Jeff. Then, talk to the tuner. Nothing wrong with sharing your results, but nobody here on the forum can fix the tune for you or find out what's going on. Just like others who have had issues with their various tunes, you need to give the tuner a call. There could be lots of reasons why you aren't getting the performance you're expecting. Either way, good luck!

Don't you need to do a CASE relearn whenever you swap PCMs??? It's been a long time since I read why you need to this but it has something to do with misfires???

I can give you my experience with the same thing. I had a W4Me tune and was only a slight improvement but I thought it was better than stock. Then a tuner became available in my area and he did an EFI live tune. Runs even better yet. The new tuner read the W4Me tune and was not impressed , to say the least. He showed me the timing tables and couldn t underestand what W4Me was doing. Also my w$me tune , I left the V4 mode ON, which he can do. But on the latest tune I removed the V4 mode cause it did n t do anything for my mileage ( I live in a very hilly area) and it was starting to annoy me. I think the more they make these vehicles with all the computer tech stuff in them, the harder and less we will get out of them in performance.

It's generally recommended. But if you don't get a check engine light, it shouldn't be causing any issues, at least not at that moment. I'd still get it done though.

The "standard" w4m tune isn't very aggressive at all. It's quite obvious when compared to the Max Tune I have on the SCT handheld. He doesn't call it an "economy" tune for nothin'.
