5.3 Nbs Dyno Numbers?

I was wondering what some other trucks have made for power. Dyno'ed my 08 1500 today. We built a custom intake for it, and did a very conservative tune on it (87 Octane), otherwise it is stock. 3rd gear pull it made 265 hp & 298 ft/lbs. I will post the sheet tomorrow. Here are some pics of the intake. Click on any Picture for the larger image.

That's extremely good for a stock motor with an 87 tune (is this 2wd truck?). I'd be lucky if I put 230 to the ground.

Yes, 2wd.

Here is the dyno sheet.

Darn good numbers at the wheels for mostly stock. That intake must agree with your truck and the tune is certainly working. Cool!

Yeah, I am happy with it. I did the tune myself. First time tuning anything for 87 octane. I did more smoothing than anything, pulling timing and fuel, etc. I'm trying to keep it safe. My GTO was tuned to the ragged edge. It ran great, but I hate that feeling you get everytime you floor it, wondering if it will be the last. This truck is 100% for daily use, and utility. The GTO was a weekend tire eater.

I've had my laptop hooked up to the OBDII connector and using Mitchell's International software I was able to see the parameters... BUT I haven't been brave enough to alter it since I don't know if there is a function that will "reset" back to factory settings. I need to investigate some more software options. I'd like to play with it some and try some "economy" tune settings as well.

All you have to do is read/save the stock calibration. Then if you ever make a mistake, you can always go back to the stock file.

Buy that, and get back to me. I can walk you through getting started. It is not bad at all. Here is a graph from my GTO I tuned.

Holy crap! What cam do you have in that GTO? It just keeps making power to 7000.

Actually, that was a Magnacharger. LS1 with stock zo6 cam, headers, dual 3", 90mm TB, and a 4" intake system. The car is now near stock. I got tired of it, so it sits on my lift waiting for me to put a few things back together and sell it.

you got tired of it! wtf :)

It's hard for to imagine because I have never driven anything with that kind of power.

After over a year of tuning, racing, tuning, racing, it did what I wanted it to, and I decided I want something new. I am eventually going to sell it and get a Corvette.

Here is a vid of me at the track. Not one of my best passes, but a decent video. I'm in the red GTO.

That's crazy, over 500hp. That thing must have been quick.
