How-To: All Lights On at Once.

Ok i couldnt find it on here where it was discussed before but i remember seeing people say you can splice into, etc... Sure that may work but i did some research awhile back and was able to find out how to do this on the dieselplace.com forum. I read seemed like 10 million post about it and the guys over there had it down to a science. Let me get started

I will tell you exactly how it is on my truck and how it works. The way its set up on my truck is the low beams work as normal(automatic or manuel turn on) and the fogs work the same(using the button), but when i turn my high beams on...my low beams, high beams, and fogs lights all come on at the same time. I also discribe how to do a few other setups near the end of the post, like: fogs comes on with low beam... its upto you which pattern you wanna use, i just want to tell you how you can make it happen.

First of all you need to go to radioshack and get the 4001 diodes, i used 2 of them and i think for the set it was only like a dollar something.

Next step it to take off the fuse box cover under your hood. Once this is done look on the back side of the fuse box cover at the fuse diagram. Find the low beam fuse, high beam fuse, and the fog light fuse. Once you have found all 3 fuses on the diagram look at the numbers printed on the fuses on the cover and find the 85 pin of each fuse(there are 4 pins on each). The 85 pin is all you have to deal with. When you take each fuse out remember which fuse goes to which fuse and also when you put them back in later in the process make sure the right pins are go back in the same slot(the pin numbers are also printed in the bottom side of the fuse next the each pin)

Ok, with the diodes there is what is called the bottle cap side. To find this look at the diode and in the middle youll see the black object, and on one end of the diode black piece there is a silver ring wrapping around it, this is called the bottle cap.

INSTALL

Step one take the bottle cap side of one of diodes and place it in the 85 pin slot of the high beam fuse, then take the other end and place it in the 85 pin slot of the low beam. At this time you can place the low beam fuse back in its place with the right pins lining back up ofcourse(use the diagram and the numbers on the bottom of the fuse)

Step two take the bottle cap side of the diode and place it in the 85 pin slot of the high beam fuse, then take the other end and place it in the 85 pin slot of the fog fuse. At this time you can place all fuses back in their proper locations.

So just a small recap of event...

Both diodes are ran with the bottle caps facing the high beam 85 pin. And the other ends go to low and fog, one goes to 85 pin of low and other goes to 85 pin of fogs.

This set up is for the:

-low (normal)

-low/fog (normal)

-low/high/and fog (all come on with high beams)

***Note some people purchased the fuse taps that wrap around the tip of the fuse pin, but i just positioned them into the slot so that the pin and the ends of the diodes would fit. also some people used a heat gun and shrink wrapped the diodes for extra protection. I personally just put mine in and didnt do anything to them for about 6 months and had no problems, but the other day i went ahead and wrapped mine just because i have been meaning to:/ anyways i just wanted to let everyone know that its and easy process and can be done cheaply, also that I along with i dont know how many guys from dieselplace havent had any problem with them, so as far as ive seen its safe.

You can also mix it up from what i saw, you can run diode so that you can have whatever pattern you like. You can run a diode from the 85 pin of your daytime running lamps to the 85 pin of high with the bottlecap facing the high...and then youd have the daytime running lamps turn on with the highs as well. Or you could take and run a diode from the 85 pin of fogs to the 85 pin of low beam, with the bottle cap facing the low beam fuse, so that when your low beams turn on automatically then your fogs will turn on automatically with your low beams(ive seen people ask how to do this pattern). So its basically any pattern you want.

Also on another note, i know that on the NBS trucks that the fog light wire harness pattern is the same as the high beam wire harness. So if you want you can put a set of high beams in your fog lights. I have HID Xenons in my high/low/and fog lamps...and in the fog lamps are another set of HID Xenon high beams. So with my all 6 on at once setup, it is surely a pain to some eyes(i only do this to make people get outta the way)

man it took me awhile to read thru about 200 post to make sure i got it right and figured out, but once i started the install it only took a matter of minutes

Yes sir, how well do you think i explained? I hope everyone understands it all

Well, I understood it, so it will work. Thanks again for sharing.

Yeah, I imagine it took a lot of time to go trough all those post's, thanks for the research and for sharing. :D

hey I'll write more about the diodes and which ones you can use when I post this in tech wiki, but you can use diode 4001, 4002, 4003, or 4004 from radio shack. The only differences in each is the length of the diode. I forgot with one it the longest, I'd guess the 4004 is the longest. I'll find out for sure before I post tonight. When doing the install you need the longer diodes. I'll find out

Thanks for sharing that Jesse and very well written/explained. I've really wanted to do this on my 2005 silverado but never had the guts to start spicing wires and such.

Hey go for it 2005LT, i promise itll be one of the easiest things youve done!! If you have any questions feel free to ask man. Let me know if you do it

Found a similar writeup on the diesel place about a year ago. Very simple mod but well worth it. I found out my one relay was installed incorrectly from the factory causing the mod not to work. About an hour later and 50 gazillion wiring scenarios later I figured out the relay was the problem. Worked ever since.
