Howdy! I'm a noob. Found this forum in google and registered.

I am from Germany but will move to MB, Canada soon. Once I'm there I plan to buy either a 99-up Silverado or Sierra.

Is rust still an issue on the newer models?

First of all...Welcome!

I had a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 Extended cab and the only problem was a little rust on the bottom of the front interior doors, basically where the outer body panel folds over the interior door panel. It seems to be a pretty common problem for that body stlye (at least in my area). When I first noticed mine, I started checking out my co-worker's Sierra and all of them had the same problem. My girlfriend's 2002 Trailblazer, and my father's 2002 Silverado also had it.

It just depends on where you live. I never had rust on my 98, it was a Missouri truck all its life. Now my 04 is also a Missouri truck, but it has a little frame rust, but every HD in this region I have seen the same thing.

WELCOME!

My daughter lives in Germany. What part are you in?

OH, and rust isn't the big issue it once was but it is still a factor in picking a 5-7 year old truck.

Welcome!!!

I never had any rust issues with any of my trucks,But then again I don't keep them long enough to rust!

Plus I always sprayed WD-40,a few times a year, into the doors using the water drain holes that are in them, just use the extension straw they provide and let the excess run out.
