Nbs Guys- Creative Ideas For Mounting Trailer Brake Controller?

I have a prodigy brake controller that I need to install in my 1500 Silverado. For the life of me I just cannot find a clean way to mount it that does not involve hacking dash panels. I thought about trying to get it into the ashtray behind the door, and still possibly could I guess. The problem was that there would be no way to keep the door shut. I would have to completely trim all of the plastic from the back of the door. That would remove the detents that hold it closed. Although I think that is my best shot. Just curious to hear what others might have to offer.

I started a thread on this a while back, I mounted a P3. Do a search for it.

It is out of the way, and my legs don't hit it.

No hacking with mine, here is a pic. The thread I started has a better picture.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I have already seen them both. I am not a fan of bolting it to the plastic panel just hanging there. Looks too out of place for me. As for the under the dash mounting in the second link, I tried it there and it was too close to my leg. I felt like I would bump it too often.

Here is where I placed mine, and it is out the way, easily readable and accessible. I just attached the holder to the lower trim with heavy duty velcro and a metal screw goes through the plastic to held it tight.

If you dont need your ashtray, you could take it out. Then mount your controller up in there. I was a little concerned someones knee might break it out of there, but i believe someone on here has done that and hasn't had any problems.

That's were I've mounted mine and haven't hit it yet. Unless your tap dancing while driving, you shouldn't hit it.

I mounted mine there also and I'm 6"3" and have never hit it, except when I enter through the sunroof.

I mounted mine with the method in the .pdf file posted in the link. It is perfect!. I also was concerned I would hit it (6' 1"). However I never bump it with my leg, and it is so easy to see the display right through the bottom of the steering wheel. Also easy to adjust there....

I recommend it....
