Excessive Roll In The 6-speed

Recommended Posts

Anyone else notice an excessive amount of roll once there six speed is put into park; even occurs on fairly flat surfaces. Mine sometimes feels like it's hitting the parking pin (I think that is what it's called) fairly hard. I now find my self tapping the brake to reduce the impact of this roll.

Just curious.

It will still roll a bit until it sets. I use a light brake action and ease out so its a gentle roll, ive gotten used to it, as well as my shitty door lock system that locks when you hit 15mph but doesnt unlock in park, and I never had the ambition to take it to the dealer to have it completely removed, but I got accustomed to that as well.

I read somewhere once that the proper way to park a vehicle is to apply the parking brake, then shift the transmission into Park. It works for me everytime. No roll.

Use the parking brake? :dunno:

On flat surfaces?!? I do on hills, steep driveways, but not my parking lot at work.

I use it every time I park the truck, no matter where I am. It's just part of my "shutting off the truck" routine.

This is true, it keeps the force off the parking pawl. I do this whenever parking with my boat on a hill or at the launch. I also put it into drive before releasing the parking brake. That way it doesn't "clunk" into gear. I don't see the need to do this on level surfaces or without a trailer though.
