Leveling Kit With 275/65/20?

Recommended Posts

My stock tires are 275/55/20 which is about 31.9 inches tall and 11 inches wide.

I'm going to have a leveling kit installed (Bilstein 5100's) on my 2008 Sierra.

Toyo Open Country M/T makes a 275/65/20 tire that is 34.5 inches tall and 11 inches wide. Do you think I'll have any issue running this tall with just a leveling kit? It's the same width as my stock tires so I don't think it will rub. But do you think I will have any issues off road flexing them? Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I run 305/50/20's and they just barely clear everything 32" tall. I realize mine are a little wider but those 275/65/20's are 34.1". They are going to rub like hell. I'd start looking for another tire if I were you.

I run 33" with no problem. However it is close and I believe with a 34" you'll have to do some trimming, etc. Good luck.

They will rub. Go with a 275/60r20. 33 inches

I am VERY interested to hear your impressions of the Bilstein Lift, I am looking at all 4 in lieu of a the spring block and spacer in the front (which I currently have)

Stock tires 275/55/20 - 31.9 inches tall - 11 inches wide

Toyo M/T 275/65/20 - 34.5 inches tall - 11 inches wide

That's what's so confusing, it's only 2 1/2 taller (give or take) than stock and 1 1/2 inches taller than the '33. I wanted to go for the gusto, I mean what's 2 1/2 inches right? I guess I'll stick with the 275/60/20 for now. I wanted to stay away from the wider (33/12.50/20 & 305/55/20 tires due to rubbing.

Max,

Are those 20's your running? What size are those Pro Comps? I've had my eye on those too. How do you like them? Are they smooth? Do they rub? Did you need to go any trimming?

Alaska,

I'll post pics and my review after I get the Bilsteins installed. It's going to be a while as there on back order.

2.5" makes a big difference. There's a reason people aren't running that size tire.

Dan knows about this, for sure.

Yup. 9" was just too big, so I had to get it shortened. What a difference that 2.5" made...

Hey Max, what is your exact tire size? I am thinking of running 305/50/20 Nitto Terr Grapplers on my factory wheels (2007 silverado crew LTZ). However, I don't have a leveling kit, or anything like that. I have also been thinking about the 305/55/20s. Do you know if one is better than the other or if either of them work?

On another note, have you had any problems with your transmission? I also have the Max motor. Had to have my tranny rebuilt at 20,000 miles...
