New To The Club, New To The Forum Thing

Hello all.

This would be a first for me.

I'm never really been in to the forum thing, but a friend of mine told me to look in to them for helpful info. Who better to ask then to people who drive them and work on them every day. I'm currently the proud owner of a brand new 08 1500 Silverado ext cab 2wd, with a few upgrades and Greystone for my color choice. When I found out GM called it Greystone, I couldn't help but to name the truck Greyskull. Ah childhood memory, what can I say. This would be my second Chevy in recent years, I lost a beautiful 03 Avalanche to a previous life.

Anyways, hello to everyone, I look forward to utilizing the knowledge found here to build and improve the truck. One day I hope to make it my one of a kind truck.

I would like to know if there is anyone here who's truck bounces a lot. I never really had much of an issue with my other trucks, but this new one has more bounce to it. I do expect a rough ride from a truck, but that is not the case here. It feels more like a washboard affect, even on smoother roads and highways. My Avalanche road like a dream, had no complaints there and I just got ride of a sprots car for the truck. So I'm used to "feeling the road." Just doesn't feel right.

Your thoughts???

Welcome. Does the bouncy feeling happen on all roads and all surfaces or does it tend to happen more on one than the other?

Welcome to the site, and lets see some pictures of the truck. If it wasn't brand new, I'd say something about shocks, but I find it hard to believe shocks on a brand new truck would be bad.

What size wheels and tires are on the truck? If you have the 20s, they may be giving you a ride different than what you're used to... :D

EDIT: Another thing you could do, is go back to the dealer, tell them what's up, and see if they'll let you test drive a similar truck to compare the ride.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! :D Congrats on the new truck. Does the bouncing feel like it's coming from the front, back, or both? It may be that the wheels need a balancing. There will be a bit more 'bounce' as there is less weight over the rear wheels than with an Avalanche. I would mention it to the dealer and get them to take a look at it.

Dan: You're looking real happy to be sitting on that engine there.

Welcome aboard! Does this "bouncing" feeling happen with or without the girlfriend/wife along for the "ride"? :D:lol:

Yep the truck is new, had 7 miles on it when I drove it off the lot. I would like to say the bouncing is worse when the wife in the truck, but we haven't got the chance to break it in right yet ;) The tires and wheels are 275/50/20.

Anyways, I would like to take it back to the dealer, however (and you my have heard of this) the dealer I bought it from went belly up 2 weeks after I bought it. Bill Heard Chevy, ya they closed all 13 dealerships nation wide. I like there service department, they have helped me in the past and was the main reason I went there to buy. Now I know your going to say " take it to another dealer," and I will when I find one I trust. The next closest one told me it was normal for the truck to bounce. So this weekend I'm not on call and not going out of town, I'll call up some other shops and see what they say.

P.S. I don't have pics yet, but this is damn close to it.
