U-guard Accessories

Lately I've been seeing a couple of accessories available for various vehicles under the brand name U-Guard. In fact when I bought my '05 Sierra it didn't come with chrome step tubes, which was something I wanted. The dealership ordered aftermarket ones as the factory ones were very expensive, and the ones I got are marked U-Guard on the step. They look identical to the factory tubes apart from this. Is anyone familiar with this brand and their quality? Step bars have been great for the three months I've had them so far, but they seem to scuff real easy. Is that a problem with the bars or is that endemic to any chrome/stainless product in a typical Canadian winter? Nothing a light polish shouldn't remove I suspect.

Reason I ask is I'm considering adding a bull bar to the front so that I can add some lights. I've read good things about the Westin bar but it's very expensive. I have found a U-Guard bull bar locally that the guy wants $375 CAD for, and Costco sells them here for $429.99. If there's little difference in the construction (thickness of the tubing, primarily) then I might as well go with the less expensive product and spend that extra $300 on those HID off-road lights I wanted.

EDIT: Heh, Google is indeed my friend. Here's the manufacturer's site and looks like they're Canadian, though with the spelling errors and dysfunctionality of the site I suspect this is just a distributor for Chinese clone products. http://www.u-guard.ca
