Maintenance Question

Good Day

New to the site and would like to know your suggestions on maintenance that should be performed on my truck. I leased the truck almost 3 years ago and will be buying it at the end of the lease.

The truck now has just shy of 30,000KM, low for the year. I change the oil every 5-6K (3000-3600 miles) and have had the brakes serviced, It has been undercoated yearly and it gets a couple of waxings a year.

What else should I be doing to this truck to make it last. I use it to tow a small snowmobile trailer in the winter and odd jobs through the summer so it doesnt get worked hard.

Also are there any issues with this truck I should be watching for. It comes off Warranty in about 2 months.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Transmission Pan/Filter every 25,000 miles should do you well. I would do transfer case/front/rear diff. at 50,000 (that's when I did my rear). Frequent oil changes (especially if using non-synthetic). Be sure to hit the grease zerks occasionally. Dex-Cool flush and refill every 50,000 miles or 3 years. Some people change their brake fluid every so often, I do mine every 3 yrs.

Roger, besides keeping the truck clean the best advice I can give you is to read your owners manual and follow it. The vast majority of your maintneance needs will be outlined in there. Good luck.

Thanks Guys

Good advice, this is my third truck although the first from new and first 4x4, I am thinking I will keep it as it's off the lease in a couple of months and GM has given me a break on the payout if I keep it.

While I have managed to get some decent miles out of my vehicles with the basics I wanted to know what should be done with a 4x4. I will look into changing the other fluids come spring (that will be three years)

Any info on what to watch for is appreciated as well. Warranty is up in a couple of months and I am not interested in shelling out the extra coin for the extended warranty, Thoughts?

Thanks

Just keep up on the fluids and the regular washing and the truck will certainly treat you well! Screw shelling out for any extended warranty.
