Tried To Replace Crank Sensor

So i went to replace the crank sensor on my 97 suburban today (seeing as the temp was 60) after I put the new one in at the parts store the truck would not fire...I tried 2 diffrent crank sensors with the same result...but if I put the old one in it fires right up.....did I miss something?????? are crank sensors not "plug n play" or did I just have some very bad luck????????
