Awd Versus 4wd

Comparing '09 Sierra 4WD versus '09 Sierra Denali AWD (both 6.2L 6-speed).

My question is can anyone tell me the mechanical differences between the two systems on the Sierra?

I'm looking for detailed descriptions of the electronics, differentials, axles, etc..

Also, can you lift the AWD truck as easily as the 4WD?

The AWD transfer case is essentially a mid vehicle differential which is why it is unaffected by speed or steering on dry or wet. The 4WD transfer case locks front to rear causing wheel scrub, steering difficulty and chirping on pavement while steering. Someone else can post the 4wd specs.

That AWD/4WD page describes it perfectly...All wheel drive is just something for those soccer moms who don't know how to push a button (or when), and partially for power junkies as it allows more power to be transmitted to the ground without breaking the tires loose.
