stlavsa Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Just found out my 20" rockstars dont fit with the fabtech.. The damn tires are rubbing the spindle. We tried the 1/4 spacer that comes with the kit for your spare tire and that doesnt even give it the clearance. I'm pretty much stuck right now this blows. Only option I have is get another 1/4 spacer so I can run the OEM 17's just to get the thing mobile and drive it home. GOD DAMMITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
Zembonez Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 That sucks! Fabtech is pretty specific about front wheel offset. How much is it off by?
stlavsa Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 That sucks! Fabtech is pretty specific about front wheel offset. How much is it off by? I duno I cant remember the exact offset of things. I was under the impression that the Fabtech would let you run the OEM 20's.. These 20's stick out more than OEM wheels, so we thought they would be golden. Its just bullshit how I can get my 17 inch pizza cutters on there with the 1/4 spacer but not the rockstars.. I gotta drive the thing around for a day or two with a god damn 6" lift and tiny tires this should be good. Im attempting to overnight a set of rockstars as we speak.. if that dont happen im going to overnight some spacers I dont care I gotta get something for the time being.
AllBlkdOut07 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 What was the offset/backspace on the rockstars? Damn that sucks.
stlavsa Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 What was the offset/backspace on the rockstars? Damn that sucks. I BELIEVE it was 5.14 of the BS but it was +20 on the offset (which is where im gettin screwed) I swear to god the wheels stick out farther than the OEM 20s by 3/4 of an inch so I dont possibly see how they would clear... gotta be the width.. 12" wide tire is whats doin it. I am so aggravated right now.. I knew this was a risk but I swore there was people with more BS than me that cleared it. I think that overnighting the wheels is going to be an obnoxious amount of money if I can even get it done... I am waiting for a call back.
DofD Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 That really does suck there Steve. What a major bummer to go to all that work and cost and then have this happen. What Rockstars do you have? Which Fabtech lift? What tires are you using? If we can figure the offsets and requirements we can maybe offer some suggestions on making it all work.

Should've been a 0 or negative offset.

DofD Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Yeah, that +20 offset plus the width of the tires are killing you, like Umberto mentions. What's the width of the wheel? The stock wheels are only 8 or 8.5. Any wider than that on a +20 offset will cause problems.
blackout07 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I feel your pain. I know the excitement of getting it all done, and now all of your joy has been derailed. Good luck.

I wish I still had the boxes for the wheels I would find out exactly what the offset is.. I know it would cost too much to overnight the wheels I am going to overnight a set of spacers for the front until I can get another set of wheels... I bought the wheels under the impression that I would never lift the truck but things change. What really sucks is I almost ordered a set of 22" rockstars last with 35's on them, but kinda got talked out of it by everyone and decided that 20" was big enuff. Now I am regretting not ordering them big time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am going to run the spacers on these now until I can decide what to do for wheels, Either 20" or 22" rockstars. As far as the lift it was the fabtech 6" basic kit for the NBS. It WILL CLEAR the oem 17's if you run the 1/4 spacer that they provide with the kit for ur spare tire. The tires are 12" wide, they are 305/55/20's. 12"s is too wide for these wheels with the + offset. Im going to try an look up the exact offset now.
stlavsa Posted March 4, 2009 Author Posted March 4, 2009 I feel your pain. I know the excitement of getting it all done, and now all of your joy has been derailed. Good luck. yeah!! Thats half of it.. the other half is the fact that I need to take the truck to west virginia TOMMORROW for work!! I am going to have to drive it with the damn tiny wheels and 1/4" spacers on it. I also have to leave on Sunday for Trenton, NJ for an entire week. I gotta have it fixed by then. The best part is I am actually in the market for another truck because I do not want to use this one anymore for traveling, but my truck has been apart for the last 3 days so I havent been able to go look at trucks!
Matt_ Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I live near trenton. Order your new wheels/tires and have them shipped to where you're staying and ill help ya toss em on if you want
AllBlkdOut07 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 The tires are 12" wide, they are 305/55/20's. 12"s is too wide for these wheels with the + offset. Im going to try an look up the exact offset now. I'm going to be running 13.5" wide tire on 9" rims, 12" wide tire isn't too wide for a 9" wheel.
