U-joint Rusted On My 2004 Jimmy, Any Tips?

I have a 2004 Jimmy and the U-Joint is rusted on my drive shaft. Don't wanna pay an arm and a leg to replace it. Aside from greasing it, any tips?

if its bad all you can do is replace it. if you can't do it find someone to help you , or find a place that will change it for you if you bring them the drive shaft

I just replaced both u joints on my driveshaft. I didn't feel like dealing with pressing out the rusted u joints, so I took the driveshaft to a local parts shop with a machine shop and they replaced both for $35. Total was ~$70 including the new u joints. It took about an hour.

That's great. Thanks, I'll look in my area to see if I can find anyone who can do that for me. I just replaced both front berrings (spelling) and I was just trying to save some money.

FWIW, taking the driveshaft out is a very simple thing to do. A loacl place can press out the joints and a new one is easy to press in. The one thing to be careful of is with the original joints in at least the older stuff is that they didn't hold the original joints in with clips. They used a nylon plastic melted in place and then balanced the shaft with the plastic in place. When pressing out, they need to support all components as you will break the ears off the drive shaft if you are not careful. DAMHIKT Most people would recommend you balance the shaft after joint replacement but on a shorter shaft I'm not sure it matters so much.
