Check to see if you have a vaccuum leak. One of the variables that tell it when to turn on and off is vaccuum.

Did you have the Tow/haul mode engaged by chance? I've found that with the tranny in this mode, the AFM is much more active at lower speeds especially just under 50 mph before the OD kicks in. I have a Predator tuner and have turned off the AFM (DoD). I do experience slightly lower fuel mileage in city, but the truck is so much more responsive. AFM is not a good thing on these trucks IMHO, but there are many heated debates about this topic.

Ok. I didn't know what AFM was. Till I seen DoD.

Guess my question is. What does AFM stand for?

I haven't a clue.....

A F*cking Mess.

or

Active Fuel Management.

So what are you bitching about? Is it causing driveability problems? Quit watching the DIC.

my truck didn't come with all that fancy shit.....when i bought it the dealer tried to tell me that it didn't have afm because it doesn't show on the dic console....so it is impossible for me to watch the DIC. i can only hear it going on and off and with flowmaster super 44s you would have to be def not to hear it

no tow haul was not on....i hate afm as well i bought a v-8 for a reason and i honestly don't think it saves you that much gas....IMO it would seem like more work for the engine to keep switching back and forth but thats just my opinion.....im thinking it might have something to do with the temperature

I don't know about this. I don't want to start the whole argument about AFM again, but my 2008 gets a consistent 6-8 mpg more than my 2001 of the exact same configuration did. I know these trucks aren't that much more aerodynamic.. I'm sure it is a combination of factors, but I don't have a problem with AFM at all..

6-8 Huh? Hmmm, does that mean my truck would be getting 6-7 MPG without AFM?

AFM is worthless.....unless you consider .5 MPG worthwhile..and I am being optimistic.

Mine is getting shut off within the month. I will bet my mileage does not drop noticeably at all.

It's a combination of factors...........
