Buzzing From Above..

Well it was a nice -33c out in saskatchewan the other day, and started my truck and there was a LOUD buzzing sound coming from that speaker above the driver side window, wich i presume is a microphone for ONstar. After a little while it warms up and stops buzzing but wholy crap, it was soo loud I almost crapped. Anybody have this?

That is not a speaker or a microphone. It's an aspirator fan for your auto climate control.

Common problem, I had mine replaced as MANY others have as well.

Call your dealer.

and by the way, I would take it into the dealership to see if it has malfunctioned. It may be just the little fan/sensor didnt like the extreme cold and let you know about it, or the extreme cold could have killed it...

I ain't ever heard it called an aspirator fan :uhoh:

That's what it was called on my work order. :D

Much as I hate to :sigh: ...I have to agree with Jeff on this one.

Aspirator Fan.

Yep, aspirator fan that aspirates air over the ambient temperature sensor. :uhoh:

True, but it's the fan that's buzzing, NOT the sensor.

VMax2007 after yours has been replaced have you had any issues??

Nope, but mine only did it for about 30 seconds at start-up at sub-zero temps after sitting outside all day. We only had a few of those since it was replaced. So far, so good, but we'll see next winter.

In fact, when they kept it overnight on the coldest night of our winter (it got to -25 F overnight), it didn't do it for them when they started it in the morning. Weird! but they took my word for it and replaced it anyway.

Yall are all wrong, its an air saturation sensor, it determines the level of flatulence in the cab to determine the correct amount of external air to be let in to the cab. :uhoh:
