Pxamg Install Tips? 09 Silverado

Hey, I just got my PXAMG and am hoping someone else has done this and can give me some tips on the install. I don't want to tear the whole dash apart only to find out I only needed to open the glove box or something.

I've searched a bit but haven't found much on getting to the radio on this exact truck. Mine is a 2500HD LT withOUT Nav. it's the single CD player. Just not sure what pieces of trim need to be pulled off and how to do it. I have a history of breaking clips on trim pieces and I really want to avoid that on this install.

Thanks in advance, any pictures or vids would be great!

I installed the PXAMG on my '08 without nav. You will need to pull the dash and remove the radio to get access to the wire harness that plugs into it. The dash piece that comes off is the solid piece that surrounds the radio. Grab the upper right corner (on the passenger side) and give it a tug. The piece is held in with snaps so it will come out, just be careful around the thin areas that you don't snap the dash. Also don't pull away too far because you'll have to disconnect the wire harnesses that go to the 12V DC outlets. Once it's off you'll have free access to the screws on the radio. You'll have to take the radio (and in my case also the HVAC module) off

You'll plug in there, and then the trick is locating the module somewhere. You'll see several people in here have done it, and many have write-ups with pictures. I put mine on the left side of the top glove box, between the glove box and the AC duct, and secured it with velcro. It's been there for about 3 months now and I haven't had vibrations or rattles out of it.

Best of luck!

I have done this as well, but I just velcro'd (sp?) mine to the ducting that runs directly behind the head unit. There was just enough room back in there. One word of advise is to make sure you have your RCAs connected tightly to the PXAMG. Some guys have even suggested using electrical tape to make sure they stay connected, but I haven't had a problem with them coming off yet. Its really a very easy install. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.

Thanks, I don't think i'll be using any RCA plugs since I will only be using the ipod cable. I could see the value of putting some kind of strain relief on the ipod cable so it won't get pulled out when putting the radio back in place.
