Changing Rear Rotors - 2001 Suburban

I have a 2001 Suburban 4x4 1500 LT

 

It's time to change out the rear rotors as they are warped. I took a quick look and it looks like the rotors are part of the hub. Can someone tell me how they come off. I usually do my own brakes and am reasonably mechanically minded.

 

In searching for replacement rotors it seems that there are two types - one for rears w/ positraction and one for rears without. I'm not sure what I have. Is there an easy way of finding out?

You can determine what rear end you have by looking at the RPO codes in the glove box. I'm no help on the rotor removal.

In doing a parts search I only see one rotor available. The rotor has the integrated parking brake "bell" on the inside so it looks like one big unit. Once you pull the caliper off, pull the caliper bracket off and you should be able to take the rotor off. Once you pull the rotor off you'll see the drum brake parking assembly and the underlying end of the axle shaft with studs. If the rotor is rusted to the axle shaft you may need to pursuade it loose with a hammer. Be careful though as those parking brake shoes cost an arm and a leg.
