The A/T grill I put on a year ago is taking a beating. The state sprays magnesiun chloride on the roads to prevent icing. The stuff is doing a number on the chrome.

That sucks!

I'm sure glad we don't get that kind of weather here. I'm sure TXdot would be doing the same thing.

Sounds similar to what they use in Ontario now other then just salt, this new crap they use is really really horrible for corrosion!

GM warranties wheels against corrosion, you might as well try to get a new grill. Did you buy the part from your dealer? If so, you might actually have a chance.

 Keep us posted how it turns out...

A local garage near here (D.C.) told me that he has noticed a huge increase in problems with corroded brake lines because of the liquid stuff.

That sucks. My lower "chrome" grill is the same way. I've been meaning to have it replaced under warranty, but have yet to get around to it.

In MN they break out a different compound when the temp sits below 0* for extended periods. Anyone know if it's the same stuff?

my rims looked like that when it was 3 months old and had 2000km on it....luckily I was able to use some chrome polish and get the sh*t off....it was like glue/sap and I could have sworn it was permanent..... took a lot of work to remove

At least with actual chrome, you can abrade most surface contaminants off. That's not the case with the cheap chromed plastic on the grills. Once the surface is compromised, that's all she wrote.
