Muffler Question For 2009 Sierra Denali 6.2

I recently traded in my 2005 Cadillac Ext for a 2009 GMC Sierra Denali. I am starting to add my mods and have noticed that the exhaust is 3.5 " in dia. Does anyone have a recomendation for a single in and dual out muffler. (pref 3.5" in and 2.5" or 3.0" dual out) I had a 50 series flowmaster on the Ext and it sounded great. Thanks in advance.

I had a Borla on my 2001 Tundra. Had the Flowmaster on my 2004 Avalanche and my 2005 Ext. This is going to be my son's truck so I want to mod this truck out for him. My local muffler shop is going to make the entire cat back system. They have many mufflers to chose from, but wanted a more agressive sound for a young guy.

I have the Corsa duals on my 6.2L and they look great and sound great. When you're crusing on the highway in 6th it's quiet. Only when it needs to downshift into 5th and the revs come up to your hear it (on the highway). Lay your foot into it, and she has a really nice/aggressive raspy note. Highly recommend them.

Are you sure that the stock exhaust is 3.5"? The pipe on my dad's Duramax is 3.5" and it's a fair size. I would have thought the stock pipe on a 6.2 would be 3". I could be wrong though...

My exhaust shop thought it was 3" also until he got up under it and measured. Must be new for 2009. My wife's Escalade with the 6.2 is 3" though. :withstupid:

Well I world love to know this also because my 6.2 All Terrain is being built today WOOO HOO

The new exhaust size maybe due to this is now a flex fuel engine with a different CAFE standard.

Its 3.5" the whole way. So far the only thing that I have done to the exhaust was cut off the resonator and the ugly tip. I have it dumped over the rear axle and sounds great!!! It got a little louder but not a whole lot. I didn't notice any additional drone in the cab either. If your looking for a new exhaust I would try this first. Its free and its easy. You can't go wrong with at least trying it out.

If you want an exhaust that will last, then make sure it's a stainless steel one. I'd recommend Magnaflow, Borla or corsa... I currently have Corsa and love it. I've had magnaflow too, and liked it just as well, just a little more drone.

Congrats on the truck. Are you adopting children?

Thank you all for your replies. I found a Magnaflow 3.5" in and dual 3.0" out at Summit for $196.95. It is polished stainless steel and it will look very nice with the stainless custom exhaust this local shop builds. The salt air here in florida is not very nice to a none stainless system. I did talk with someone at flowmaster and they don't have the demand for a muffler that big yet. :puke:

I have a 3.5" in and out aero turbine muffler on my 08 sierra denali. I got the 3535xl version that has an added resonator. I wanted it single in and single out because im not sure what I want to do about the exhaust exit or tailpipe. So right now it looks factory, sounds a little meaner than factory, and hardly added any cruising noise. Drone is almost non existent most of the time. It is a straight through muffler also. I think it sounds great. Not to much louder but sounds awesome when you get on it.
